There is a high school coach who is helping to train runners from other teams. I think that is fine, but I recently learned he is undercutting the decisions of the runner's main coach by deciding what events they should run.
The main school coach has more of a team concept and is cautious about overtraining runners. He often talks about preparing athletes to further their career in college, because he has seen athletes burn out once they get to college. He does get results, with both team and individual state champions. The poaching coach does not have a big team, so he has time to work on more of an individual basis and is more about the individual athlete.
The extra coaching is also causing problems with the other main school teammates, as they don't want certain individuals to get special treatment, they want to train and compete as a team.
Does this violate coaching ethics, for the coach of one school undermining the decisions of another school? Even if they are doing it to help the athlete they are working with?
