Just saw this. Kofuzi may now be credited with developing the nine day training cycle by lazy researchers.

I think that Paula Radcliffe trained on a 9 day schedule.
He is a genius. I hope he goes down in history for this.
The issue isn't so much a "nine day" cycle as it is "one hard day (of some sort) and 2 easy/recovery days" repeated. This could esily be extrapolated to a 12, 15 18 or 21 day cycle depending on what else besides Threshold and a long run that you wanted in there - ie a med LR, Vo2 work, pure speed work, hils etc. As always however, there is no "magic pill" other than finding what works for you at the present time given you ability, goals AND what other stressors exist in your live (work, school, family, etc)
Soon he will let the world know he’s the first to break 20min for 5k too….Albeit only by a couple seconds.
Ummm meb and i think deena. Probably a ton more.
Yes. Mention him in the same sentence as real athletes. That’s what he deserves.
Next they’ll claim Seth James DeMoor created summer of malmo
I can’t wait until he invents mile repeats!
next: developing a muscle imbalance by running thousands of miles with a gopro can improve your marathon time from 3:13 to 3:04.
That beautiful basturd will be the FIRST to do it….
Eh, I thought it was a good video describing his thoughts on a long-known but lesser-used training cycle.
Many on these boards harp about perceptions that running-related YouTubers just peddle shoes and gear. I, too, find shoe talk boring and applaud his attempts to discuss actual training.
It’s not lesser used in the slightest. He’s just insufferably clueless. 👍🏼🤦🏻♂️
Maybe amongst pros. I run with many groups in my city and know of no 9-5-working person who runs a 9-day. All go with the usual 7-day, with long run on Saturday or Sunday.
He didn't say he invented it, just said he's using that because he had the flexibility to do so. In essence, it's two easy days after a harder effort. The takeaway is to not overtrain. But I get it, hard to resist that LRC flame boy urge.
This is an odd one to me; I know little about the nine-day cycle (though, after reading the article, I can appreciate why it may have its benefits) - but speaking more practically, how is this data point in any way meaningful? A man who is functionally a full-time runner (not knocking - quite jealous) runs a very meager PR, and it becomes “news worthy”? Unclear to me how that’s at all proof of its effectiveness - I sort of suspect this would have gone up whether or not he had run a PR. Show me amateurs breaking 2:40/:30/:20 using this technique - and I’d give it a little more credence.
My $0.02.
First time I heard about it was when I read Meb's book.
How much is Seth James DeMoor seething right now?
Um, Matt Choi already did this. In fact, he invented the "mile." It is defined as the distance Matt Choi can cover in 6:00. He also ghost authored Running Formula under the pen name "Jack Daniels." Seriously, did you think that name was actually real?
Ko at 142k Subs. 5k added last month and projected to pass our fast lil' son of a gun in 4-6 months. Maybe sooner with the attention he's getting. To his credit though, Kofuzi has helped alot of small time channels by giving them attention.
