I'm interested in buying a pair of shoes for fast workouts/road races and don't have the money or interest (mainly just money) to try out the vaporfly type super-shoes. I found some new-unused Nike Streak LT 3 pairs on ebay, which I loved using in high school. I know running shoes overall have a time limit on the foam compressing and losing their cushion but I was wondering how much this affects the minimalist/old-school flat type shoes. Is the compression with less foam better/worse to deal with than a thicker daily trainer/long run shoe? How much would it affect a 6-7 year old pair? If it really comes down to it I could get a pair of Asics Hyper Speed 2 for $60 but that's still not exactly the same, or save up and see what all the hype is about.
