Sure they did. What did those last-minute tickets cost, 10k?
Hyperbole much? GTFO
TL;DNR: Pot, meet kettle.
I assume they'd just change their existing reservations, but if that wouldn't work, and they had to buy tickets, here's what's available tomorrow on Expedia:
1) First class is $6k, no matter when you buy it. I didn't check to see if there are first class seats on the "first flight out."
2) Expedia says there are business class seats left on the 5:25AM tomorrow for $1,600.
3) Economy looks to be around the same.
Bottom line: They COULDN"T pay $10k, and they probably paid a lot less.
The coach dropped by the Olympic runners Laura Muir and Jemma Reekie was already the subject of multiple complaints when they clashed during a training camp in
Key bits of the most recent article for those who don't have a subscription to the times:
- Youngs was already under investigation by a third party investigator at the request of UK Athletics before Muir and Reekie left
- There was a "situation that required the intervention of senior UKA staff in Potchefstroom in 2022"
- Times quote the year old GDS podcast - nothing new though and doesn't seem like she's said anything since that interview either.
- Mentions how Erin Wallace and Eloise Walker left the group last year (joining Trevor Painter's group).
- Young says they argued about using the car to drive to lunch but that he let them drive it in the end and they didn't walk actually walk in the heat. This would contradict the claim that they were mad that he said they couldn't use the car and returned to find he hadn't used it himself.
The most pertinent seem things to be that Youngs was already being investigated due to complaints (plural of complaints is used whenever it is mentioned in the article and "athletes" is used not athlete to describe the investigation).
If possible I hope the findings of this investigation are made public.
And that’s the end of his coaching career. Bet he kind of wishes he wasn’t so stubborn over some trivial matter like letting grown women use a rental car.

and what were the complaints?
Not listed. The investigation is ongoing.
Guessing it probably pertains at least a little bit to the "incident in Potchefstroom in 2022" given that required intervention from UKA senior staff.
The rumour mill in Flagstaff last year when a bunch of Brits visited was that Young lost it and went crazy at one of his athletes in front of a whole bunch of people (including GB athletes, coaches, and staff) and that other coaches complained about Young to UKA about it.
Bolt's secret is out - stuff yourself with chicken nuggets before races
He never said stuff himself. He just said that’s what he ate.
Bolt enjoys chicken as part of his diet. Good on him. I understand that this story originates from when he went to a meeting and there was no suitable food available so he went to the local KFC/McDonalds/fastfood. It was a one off.
It seemed Reekie settled much quicker after the split with her new coach - her improvement this year has been marked. Though she was suffering from after effects of glandular fever for some time last year.
I think Muir was self coached for a little too long and it showed in her erratic performances. I think she took the split harder? Maybe she’d been with him for much longer. She said she wanted to take time to find a new coach but time is of essence.
Her 800 performance last night was more like the old Muir so hopefully she’s back on the up.
