As a moderate with mostly Libertarian views in FL, DeSantis is doing a really good job I’m FL. He was integral in fixing our insurance crisis recently. Our former laws had FL creating 78% of insurance lawsuits in the country with approximately 8% of claims.
As far as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. It’s a parental rights law that prohibits discussion of sexual orientation for kids 5-9 years old. That doesn’t seem controversial to me as a father of 2 kids. Both of my kids are teens, so they are free to hear about all sexualities and gender identities. I’m not at all religious, but I there is plenty of evidence that 2 parent households produce better results for children, even if both parents are same sex or other gender identities.

Many states have done this previously, it has has been proven that it has no positive effect on student performance. If a passing score is 400, and you raise the score to 425, a kid who would have gotten a 350 is still getting a 350 regardless.
But the goal seems to be to have fewer kids pass the tests. This means graduation rates go down. That means schools lose accreditation. If enough schools lose accreditation, you can claim that public education is broken and privatize the whole thing. This will create a wider gap between families that can afford these private instructions and families who will just need their kids to enter the workforce at earlier ages and drop education. Real Victorian era BS.
