Where exactly was that proven?
Where exactly was that proven?
with years of slandering salazar is still don't know what he did wrong and i don't know one of his athletes who ever failed one damn drug test. i do know of other coaches popular on this board that can't say that and they seem to be treated with respect. goucher needs to sue him and prove it instead of writing books to promote herself and make money. the only other way that i know of is a failed drug test. please don't reference usatf and safesport, their history of successfully promoting athletics in this country speaks for itself. while not condoning testing drug on his child (it was stupid at a minimum) , they should have to show intent to use the results in a negative way. his athletes were competing in an environment where drug use in athletics was and is extensive and his athletes drug free results speak for themselves
First, maybe read more from Goucher herself, like her book, articles, etc. 2nd, have you heard of masking the drugs to cheat the tests? (It's in the book.) 3rd, Goucher spoke out to prevent his abuse from happening to others. It takes a lot for a sexual assault victim to come forward. Please learn from the victims instead of throwing aspersions.
The whole Salazar saga was a big deal to all of us, but probably went most unnoticed by any person not into track. Even with Kara’s book it won’t reach THAT big of an audience. There’s no good reason to go on a media tour and, in essence, inform millions of people of the charges against your name. Better in a niche sport to just let it go at a statement of denial.
No defamation lawsuit from Salazar says pretty much everything. Even more so given the graphic nature of what Goucher accused him of in her book.
Some of you have no moral courage. If you are innocent you need to affirm your innocence. Alberto has pride. You don’t. Maybe he is guilty.
A Salazar's crime is ruining a 1:59.xx 17 year old female 800m runner. There is no statue on the books for said crime so he is banned for other reasons.
if i am casting aspirations.,what are they? what proof of wrongdoing is in her book? Demeaning someones reputation with no proof is slander. putting words in a book is proof of absolutely nothing unless it can be verified. what happened to innocent until proven guilty? first thing she should do is put any proceeds into a fund for drug victims or some such. That would provide credibility. He has possibly been a victim for at least 5 years on this board and there is nothing he can do to stop it. It is like a slander board. This is not how a civil society should function.
No, he has the fragile ego of a bully.
Have you read the book?
There is no way Kara would write it without feeling she has nothing to hide. My belief is everything she wrote is the truth.
the legal battle that resulted in his ban….
Well we know this is potentially nonsense. People who feel they have something to hide can and do write books. Surely you understand this?
Salazar's reputation is already in the toilet. Even if he could win a defamation lawsuit, he would win next to nothing in damages because of how badly he is already regarded.
No, she spoke out for attention, period.
If she wanted to prevent it and help others, she would have left the alleged site of the crime and called the police immediately. She would have told her husband as I said in another thread. She's NOT telling the entire truth. But you go on believing her.
Exactly. If her concerns were altruistic Kara would have come forward immediately. Kara doesn’t give a damn about others. She was looking out for herself. Not that I am condemning her for this, but let us be real here.
My understanding of civil suits is the opposite of what you say. The burden would be on Salazar to prove the accusations were lies.
There’s no such thing as innocence and guilt in lawsuits.
That is unequivocally false. It's on the person making the accusations.
Kara timed these "accusations" to her benefit dropping the F-bomb after taking 4th at the trials in 2016. Does anyone think if she won the trials she'd having given the same interview?
No way, this was a planned interview if things didn't go right. I don't believe Alberto put his finger where she claims but you all can believe what you want. Where I live it's a crime to not report a crime, believe it or not.
You can't wait when it's convenient for you to make such accusations, but Kara is an attention seeker...I saw her at the 2020 trials, she loves attention!
Sorry, not buying her version at all
...isn't that an even better reason not to do a media tour?
SafeSport is not a court of law, there was no legal battle. SafeSport will always err on the side of caution, that doesn't make someone guilty of anything.
It depends on who is suing who for what. If he sues her for libel, the burden would be on him to show he suffered damages attributable to her book and the accusations in it. If he could do so, she could assert a defense that the things she said were true, and at that point she'd have the burden of proof, but if she could proof they were true, Alberto would not win his suit even if he had suffered damages from the accusations. (That's American law, I understand in England you win a libel suit in some circumstances even if what they said about was completely accurate!) By contrast, if she sued him for damages arising from his alleged sexual misconduct, the burden would be on her to show he really molested her and that she incurred damages.
Note also that in civil lawsuits, the standard for winning is "preponderance of evidence" so like, the jury thinks its a better than 50% chance you're right. This is different from criminal trials' standard ("beyond a reasonable doubt" or, perhaps, the jury is like 95% sure you did it). So it could, theoretically, have been possible for Kara to win a civil suit against Salazar and for the state of Oregon to fail to convict him if it had charged him with sexual assault for the same conduct, since the standards of proof in each case are different.
