Quite right. These trolls are frustrated people who might have had a promising start but fell short of this promise. Therefore, they can’t fathom that there might be a talent out there that can meet/exceed their own level of accomplishments.
That is a real record. We are all gald for her. Nobody is sad. The point is that NCAA records are just internal records regardless of who holds them. Do you need tissues?
What does this even mean? Total word salad. Of course these NCAA records are real. They also provide a good point of reference when someone breaks them. Tuohy just broke NCAA indoor records previously held by Jenny Simpson (mile) and Karissa Schweizer (3k). So that gives an idea of how strong Tuohy’s performances are when you consider how Simpson and Schweitzer’s careers progressed after college.
Does anyone here know (Semihaze?) why she’s not competing in the Raleigh Relays? Is it an injury, just tired or prepping for better competition in some invitational? Thanks!
The difference is that the US is the best in the world at sprinting. Several African countries are the best at distance running. A 21 year old sprinter in those countries could be one of the best nationally but not world class. In the US, a runner had to be world class to be competitive in the NCAA.
I’m not following this logic. Doesn’t the US strength in sprinting and in the women’s 800 make Mu, Knighton, and Wilson even more impressive? They have to go through many of the best athletes in the world in their events just to make a national team.
Perhaps you don’t follow the sport closely enough to appreciate that sprinters peak in their early 20’s and distance runners in their late 20’s. You won’t find many world class sprinters still competing in their 30’s at the highest levels.
You're like a 50 plus year old guy and you're posting about this? I'd bet the moon you are one of her followers.
Are you married? Do you have kids? Spend the time with them versus posting on a thread about a 21 year old female college runner. If you have kids, I pity them to a whole different level.

It's a weak person who calls someone a troll just because they disagree with them
Her having 100k followers. Not a big deal.
Her not medaling in the Olympics. She won't.
Sorry you missed out on a participation trophy at last weekends local 5k. I have it on good word that there will only be 5 people in your age-group category next weekend as Mr. Wilson will be out of town. Top 5 get a ribbon, so you're good to go on meeting your personal level of accomplishments.
Perhaps you should list the average age for the all-time top 20 list for the women's 100 as compared to the 5000 amd you will see it is you who doesn't follow the sport.
Doomsday? Did somebody predict the world was coming to an end? Astro told us that no Tuohy fans predicted that she would be winning.
Doomsday is just the persistent LRC trolls telling us that Tuohy’s career has peaked, is on the decline or never will reach world class levels. There’s always another promising phenom on the horizon who has or will eclipse her records. They are thoroughly disgusted that this 21 year old is getting this much attention. All I can say is that since I saw her perform in 2019 against 150+ pro’s at a Lehigh meet and finish 2nd to a 26 year old pro, as a HS Sr., I’ve been impressed with her talent level and work ethic and have been tracking her progress. I’ve not been disappointed and unlike the persistent trolls have been amused and inspired. If you think downplaying her accomplishments and promise makes you feel better, so be it. It won’t detract the rest of us.
How does any of this take away from her following?
How does the fact that she is the same age as Keely and Athing (multi-medalists) take away from the fact that people love to watch her?
We all know that sometimes the best athlete is not the one who captures our attention. It’s the athlete with personality, drive, passion, or a story of rising back up after defeat/illness/injury etc. whatever it is that grabs out attention.
Not sure why this is so surprising to some of you nor why you pretend to remain so confused by her fan base.
Confused by her fanbase????? Lol!!!!
I never said that, I said who cares.

You’re funny, Bozo! Unfortunately, you’re still a troll. Cheers!
Often I'll look at those numbers on top and doubletake. Klaver has more than 3x the number of Instagram followers as Bol. I remember reading that Klaver didn't seek it and it happened out of nowhere. Somebody posted a Klaver video on TikTok during Tokyo and her numbers exploded. Klaver herself wasn't even on TikTok.

I like Tuohy but here is a reminder for the rabid fans on here . . . Tuohy is a year older than Athing Mu and Keely Hodgkinson, 2 years older than Erriyon Knighton, the same age as Jacob Krop and Anna Hall, and a year younger than Jakob Ingebrigsten and Britton Wilson.
What do all these athletes have in common that Tuohy doesn't have?
Olympic/World Champs medals, national records, or at least can make it to Olympic/World finals. Tuohy would need to break 14:57 to even make it into Worlds. She is a superstar in the NCAA and could go pro anytime now, but seriously stop deluding yourselves. She is nowhere near the caliber of these other athletes her age. Downvote me all you want, it won't change that fact.
So there's the obvious stuff we have to acknowledge.
Tuohy is white and American. That gives her a bump. It just does.
Athing and Keely both have more followers than KT.
But letsrun is a distance running site. The 800m is not quite considered a distance event. Notice how Roisin Willis, who fits the white and American mold doesn't get the sort of attention KT does on here. KT does the events most lets runners do.
But good point though. It's always worth mentioning.

As I posted earlier, sprinters and track distance runners tend to peak between the ages of 23 and 28. Look at the data, and see for yourself.

‘23-28’. The data shows WR’s are younger for sprinters and older for distance athletes. That’s why the most talented distance athletes eventually migrate to the marathon, the ultimate distance test.
Incorrect. Making up generalized data is a weak way to prove a point. The average age of the top 20 all-time list for women in the 5000 is less than it is in the 100.

This is actually right and it is not very close (28.5 for 100 vs 25.0 for 5000) by data in WA for W. For top 100 in both it is very close at 25.4
But Letsrun posters live in a world of opinions and rumors. Most won't believe my post or your post or will just miss it because they don't really care about facts.
