I like Tuohy but here is a reminder for the rabid fans on here . . . Tuohy is a year older than Athing Mu and Keely Hodgkinson, 2 years older than Erriyon Knighton, the same age as Jacob Krop and Anna Hall, and a year younger than Jakob Ingebrigsten and Britton Wilson.
What do all these athletes have in common that Tuohy doesn't have?
Olympic/World Champs medals, national records, or at least can make it to Olympic/World finals. Tuohy would need to break 14:57 to even make it into Worlds. She is a superstar in the NCAA and could go pro anytime now, but seriously stop deluding yourselves. She is nowhere near the caliber of these other athletes her age. Downvote me all you want, it won't change that fact.

I get what you are saying but some of your ages are wrong

I like all these athletes and Simone Biles, and Zion, and Pat Mahomes and Miki Shiffrin who were stars and millionaires in their early 20's. This website, however, is primarily a distance running website.
For distance fans Tuohy is the most promising female to come down the pipeline. When she chooses to leave the NCAA, there is a reasonable chance she has all the records from 1500m thru 10k. Tuohy and us fans can't really do much right now about the fact that top female US distance runners are not competitive on the world stage.
Maybe Tuohy can change that or inspire a next generation of women who will.
So no one is deluding themselves, we are just cheering for the best collegiate runner and we will see over time how she develops on the US and world level.
I can also cheer for young American male soccer players, xc skiers, tennis players, tour cyclists, rythmic gymnasts, rugby players, marathoners and cricketeers, who may be good in America, but irrelevant at world level. I get to choose, I'm the fan.
Is it really so difficult to understand the difference between sprinting/field events and distance running? As to delusions, we all know perfectly well what is required to compete at the highest level internationally in distance running (and sprinting and field events for that matter; US sprinting has been playing the game for decades). We see it with every successive doping bust.
That reality aside, was anyone predicting last year at this time that she would be the dominant NCAA runner and breaking NCAA records and already challenging runners like Simpson for the accolade of most impressive women's NCAA distance running career of all time? Not even close. So I guess we will wait and see.
You really underestimated her if you didn't think she would do thise things. Semihaze predicts that she will be world class so those other accomplishments are trivial. You must not have read thousands of posters last year who made predictions that she will break every NCAA record amd she would make the US 5k team last year.
Last year right before the Indoor championship people on here were predicting she would barely AA and no one was predicting she could win. No one was mentioning her in the same breath as Simpson or Schweizer or Kipyego certainly. I always thought she would experience a lull, but that so long as she was healthy her innate talent would reassert itself around 21-22. I guess I underestimated her.
No. Go back and read posts from Semihaze. You are completely wrong. But if correct, why get so upset when peopleppredict things that you disagree with? You just admitted that your predictions were terrible pertaining to the runner you pay closest attention to. You have no credibility pertaining to Tuohy based on your own admission so you certainly have no clue about Cook or Valby or Stearns. Thanks for finally discrediting yourself.

Tuohy's birthdate is 3/18/2002
Athing Mu 6/8/2002
Keely Hodgkinson 3/3/2002
Anna Hall 3/23/2001
So, Tuohy is less than 3 months older than Athing Mu, about 2 weeks younger than Keely Hodgkinson, and almost a year younger than Anna Hall.
Didn't you point out that some world class athletes are the same age as Tuohy? Most Tuohy fans actually are unaware of what is going on outside of the NCAA. Even Semihaze admits that she has no clue about it or about the past.

I am waiting for your post thanking semi for apparently giving you a purpose in life.

What’s the difference? Track athletes tend to hit their peak between the ages of 23 and 28, regardless if they are sprinters or distance runners (not talking about the marathon here, which doesn’t apply to Tuohy anyway).
The difference is that the US is the best in the world at sprinting. Several African countries are the best at distance running. A 21 year old sprinter in those countries could be one of the best nationally but not world class. In the US, a runner had to be world class to be competitive in the NCAA.
