Amazing how someone picked out that one line from my talk with True.
As for Rupp, I only saw him post-race for about 10 seconds. He was leaving the area where the athletes can pick up their gear and get some food post-race. He was walking very gingerly/limping and looked very tight and cold to me. As he exited the area and went into the hallway before heading out the doro, I walked up to him and there were a bunch of people and asked if he could talk and he said no.
Rupp did talk to Rich Sands of RRW right after the race and said, "“Obviously, it’s disappointing; the cold air’s never great for me,. You know, I really just had to strip everything back the last couple of years. It’s been like four years since I’ve really run normally. It’s going to take some time. I know where I’m at now. I have to start somewhere. I feel like I can actually train, be healthy, and walk normal for tomorrow.”
So no mention of an injury.
I doublechecked with Alex who may be the letsrun intern this summer who was at the race and he said he too would have described Rupp as limping, tight and cold.
He's still on my short list to make the US Olympic team.
