I would like to have a videographer come out and film my team for a couple days and use it for a little publicity for the team. What is the going rate?

I’m curious about this as well.
I thought around $1000 a day and it looks like I am not off by much.

I was going to say about $3k. Know people getting married were quoted about $2k. Two people recording on the day of the wedding ($1k), another day or two worth of editing ($1k). I guess for another day of recording it would be more. Video was a combo of regular and drone footage. I think the final product was ~20-30 min edited video w/all raw files for non commercial use (couldn’t post to a monetized YouTube etc). Videographer kept copyright or whatever.
Don't let the videographer keep the copyright.
Sports videography is a lot more complicated than people standing around at a wedding. You're going to need to shell out more if you want a good product.
I was afraid of the answer. $2k is probably more than I can get approved from administration. Thanks for the help guys.
Find out of there's some video production class at your college. Maybe you could get them involved.

The videographer always keeps the copyright unless you pay a lot for it.

But there must be somebody in your college who enjoys doing videos. I would start with that. People make all kinds of decent videos for youtube these days.
Of course you should not expect the end product to be an "Olympic TV" production.
Hey coach you suck! How about a video of you in the sack with a female runner? Hahahha 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
This fella's multi-talented so will handle the job easily and at a good price.
Google mrpevents, or start here:
With a little more fantasy, you could involve the whole team to this.
Someone in the team has maybe a good smartphone (or more of them), someone is able to cut videos, maybe someone has a good mic at hand etc. A tripod is also very cheap.

Tell the team what you envision and let them go to work with their cameras, video editing, etc. It will be better and more authentic than anything some non runner video person will do. Great recruiting tool too when recruits see what the team does. Then you use some of the video budget and have some team events like a some good food, that will get the team motivated.
