Why all the hate on Tuohy? No reason to go pro with her NIL agreement and it seems she's enjoying the college life. I imagine she'll go pro when she wants to go pro. She'd probably do well with OAC or any number of distance groups that out there. Maybe Katelyn stays in school until she graduates and stays closer to NC State by running with Puma Elite. Who knows but she's got time to make the decision.
She definitely should!! Edward Chesereck stayed too long and it didn't benefit him running wise. She should run outdoor and then find a great coach
King Ches problem had/has little to do with running. He is a man with no country: not eligible to rep USA, and not interested in repping Kenya. With 0 chance to make a team, or go to world's/Olympics, it's tough to get a sponsor.
Because not having knowledge of how elite athletes developed, your opinions and predictions are meaningless. Yet you claim to know more than those of us who ran at a high level, followed the sport forever, coached for many years, and read every book written about the sport. But you watch Tuohy and predict her future and insult people who have extensive knowledge. It is akin to going to a doctor or lawyer and telling them about their profession based on a degree in sport and rec management.
The opposite of hate. Do you hate your child for recommending that they go to college? Tuohy could suffer a career ending injury tomorrow. She could sign a multimillion $ offer today.
Most of you don't recognize that she could get injured tomorrow and never get a contract. She could get 5 years at $2M today. If she gets injured tomorrow, she gets no contract. She could stagnate for a year which would significsntly reduce the amount that she will get. The only way her number increases is if she outperforms expectations before going pro and that is the least likely scenario. It would mean she runs 3:57-14:35 in the next year.

Just as going to the "best" college (vs an environment she liked) was not apparently her highest priority maybe maximum $ (vs current enjoyment) is not her highest priority now.

It doesn’t matter what we recognize. What matters is what she and those advising her recognize. This discussion is moot. She will do what is in her best interests. End of discussion.
Well obviously. But maximum dollars could be no dollars. It may work out but it may not. She doesn't know what happens tomorrow with injuries any more than you do or I do. I hope she does something great and is the next top American. I am merely pointing out that none of us can see the future.

You seemed to be suggesting she could get $2M today with the imp[lication that she should. Well as someone else also suggested, just maybe that is not top priority (so she shouldn't). As was said, this discussion about what she should do is moot.
That is correct. Her advisors are playing the odds that she won't have a serious injury. But those same people likely pay for car insurance and life insurance which is going against the odds. People have a difficult time assessing risk and reward.
I would take it and I would recommend it to my athletes or children. I hope it works out for her. It likely will but I wouldn't take the gamble of a guaranteed $2M as opposed to $0 for 1 year of enjoyment.
