After early season struggles and a 5th place seed entering the 2023 NCAA finals, Boling powers away with the fastest time in the world for 2023.Thanks to Xav...
OH. because how he looked is more important than the actual time?
Considering it’s NCAA indoors, and considering the time difference was only 0.08, and how the races were run, yeah, I think that in the long outdoor run, a good argument could be made, because it looked to me like I he other guy had trouble with the indoor turns.
Indoor turn strength does not equal outdoor greatness, unless you’re Fredericks.
Boling still looked tight and gripping, pounding his way down the track. Make no mistake the time is great, and indicates maybe 19.8 outdoors…but 19.8 is yesterday’s greatness, not today’s.
Sorry but I still don’t see much, if any, upside to Boling. I would love it if he proved me wrong in a big way. Lyles, Knighton, Bednarek, Kerley, Norman…no room. Could you really see Boling going 19.5x or 19.6-mid to make the team? That’s what it might take if all these guys run.
What was the insane part that will make the 200 never the same? He didn't get the record
C'mon, he was just mocking TRP's usual hype.
But I will say that I agree with Sprintgeezer (not a frequent occurrence!) on this: "The thing is that he seems to run the same way outdoors as indoors." People can change, and I'd love for Boling to prove us both wrong.
Actually I'd really love for Boling to do more in the long jump. I realize it's a long way from 8.95, but 8.25 ain't hay.
I agree, Boling looked horrible at the end, form falling apart, overstriding. Nice time for running a solid 165m and then hanging on like he was finishing a 400m not a 200m.
The 2nd place guy looked like he slowed up with 10m to go, almost like he jogged through the line. Feels like he could have made a better effort to finish.
I love reading this thread. Everyone is so butt hurt by Boling winning, saying he doesn't have what it takes YET HE WON. He beat everybody in the field.
Boling is probably happy that he is graduating this year. He will not have to compete against Texas A&M bound Issam Asinga (20.48 today - not at altitude)

Yes, a bit strange. The US has 7 of the 10 best 200 guys probably- not Bolings fault. Perhaps he should move up to the event everyone is abandoning in the 400. 45.3 opening relay leg doubling back is good. His top competition as others age will be Godwin, Champion Allison, and maybe Deadmon? Randolph Ross could be back, Cherry/Norwood aren’t getting younger. There’re 2 relay teams to make too.
People forget what a marvelous athlete Boling is. He and Carl Lewis are the only 2 athletes to go sub-10, sub-20 and 27' (Lewis actually did 29 feet). He is certainly capable of being the ONLY athlete to go sub-10, sub-20, sub-45 and 27'.
Excellent win for Boling. A national team outdoors is still tough since there were still six runners faster than him in. Does that mean moving up in the 400m?
