That was crazy impressive. Closing in 2:34, wow.
Was that in the same race as Lex Young? Or is Lex in a different 5k?
same. he dropped lex and daniel simmons with that 2:34 close. They were both around 2:38 and finished in 13:59 and 14:00

Well, 14:00 is pretty good considering that Lex missed a lot of training in December and January because of an injury.
Hopefully Lex still can get in good enough shape this spring to take another shot at the outdoor 5k record.
I'd love to see Gorze, both Youngs and Simmons in a pro 5k later in the season to take a shot at Rupp's record. Something similar to the Sound event from last year where Lex ran 13:43.
great job by gorze!! really closed the race hard! That’s the coolest race I’ve seen in awhile!
thee comments under the new balance live are insane. Lex (and Leo) haven’t ever given a excuse for Nxn or this race. People just make them for them. In his interview after Lex said that it’s great for the sport and that he’s glad that other people want to run fast.

Amazing, by the way! Sub-14 in high school. That's crazy!
It's being streamed live a.t.m, so I don't know if you can replay it.EDIT: Sorry, you can go to the above youtube livestream and just rewind it a bit to the Boys 5K, final heat. Also in the race, Lex Young.
The race is 8:00:00 into the broadcast.
Seeing Gorze run down the wavelights was fantastic. Best use of wavelights I've seen.
Not sure about the sleeping gesture...everyone slept on him?
He also ran 4:07 last night for the DMR win.

Also hats off to Simmons for taking the early pace. Gorze to Washington next year...the rich get richer.

And of course a 2:34 for 1000m is “worth” a sub 2 800m. Very impressive.

Wasn’t Sage Hurta trying to break the US women’s indoor record of 2:34 recently?
That was shocking.

He must have had some pent up issues! That is a bit crazy. Would be nice to get the background. Maybe J. Gault can do some digging to find out.
Is a beginning rivalry getting flamed?
Probably ran so fast because he’s a 5th year senior and used Covid time to get in a solid base. Oh, wait...

Tell us more. I know nothing about this guy. 5th year high school senior?

Gfhb was making some sarcastic criticism of some people’s explanations for faster college times recently (generally part of the super shoe discussion)?
He’s a normal high school senior.
