Brosnan did similar things in high school with breaking rules related to recruiting, practice times, meet participation, etc. He said in an interview that he had been turned in to CIF for rules violations 15 times while at NP. All of these things are near impossible to prove, yet it's mostly why he was so disliked by his colleagues in the high school coaching ranks. Sounds like he's heading down the same path at UCLA. His fan boys (and mostly him) constantly post on here that it's jealousy, but it's really a general dislike for people who don't play by the same rules and have shady ethics. There are plenty of really good coaches that don't get the online harassment he does because most don't deserve it like he does.
As with most posts on Letsrun related to Brosnan, I'm sure this will be deleted, yet it's no worse than what is said about many other people and it's not untrue in any way. Delete away I guess.
btw brosnan and dalia frias followed each other on instagram the day she entered the portal
Wow maybe Brosnan should write a "how to land a recruit in 24 hours" instruction manual. I'd love to read it.
First the 4x4 debacle and now kicking a star athlete off the DMR. Duke is running its name into the ground. The coaching seems abysmal, at least from afar .
Any athlete the enters the transfer portal one week before nationals isn’t going to run for that school anymore. Just about every school out there removes people who enter the portal from the roster. If anything, her teammates should be pissed that she couldn’t wait a week for nationals to be over
This is what is so weird to me, the timing of it. Why didn’t she just wait to enter the portal until after the National meet. With the strong DMR team they have she just walked away from a sure 1st team AA. If they can hang on to the baton that is - same runner that anchored the infamous 4x4 also the 400 leg for the DMR.

Maybe she will stay at Duke the rest of her freshman year….The she will enter UCLA in the Fall of 2023?
Why would you enter the transfer portal without already knowing where you wanted to go?
For real, let's say you want to grad transfer and you want to see if anyone you would normally not think of comes calling. You create an open market and see what happens.
In theory, because that's the way system is supposed to work, no contact before in portal. In practice though deal is done already, then boom in and out of portal as a formality.
Never even heard of her. Until today. Much ado about nothing. A college kid has transferred.
Oh, she’s talented. Ran 4:35 mile and 9:50 two mile in HS. So strange that she would up and leave mid year, literally while the season is ongoing. Pretty acrimonious it seems. Duke already took down her roster page on their website. Often those things stay up for months even when athletes are off the roster. I’m not sure what to think, but it doesn’t seem like the usual transfer.

I did the same thing. It was one of the best things I ever did. No acrimony in my case. I knew what I had to do. The coach I left was a great guy, but I would never have reached my potential with him. Sometimes you know what you gotta do though.

Did you go mid season days before your DMR team was set to run nationals? Strange, no?

If you're applying to grad school you're probably entering the portal mid year or first semester. You also can be "earmarked" as a grad transfer for coaches to take note. So if you have some schools in mind that you'd be applying to who have your program, you'd reach out to those schools and try to run.

A good friend of mine once cautioned me about dating a woman runner by saying that every female runner was screwed up. He was exaggerating but there is something to this, but really people are screwed up. We all have issues to deal with. I would wager that this young lady has bigger concerns than an NCAA DMR race. Let us wish her well.
