Looks to me like their is some serious issues with what is listed as the final results. I can see part of the reason for the St Francis result is they have a scoring runner with an impossible result who was in a previous race, as does Oaks Christian. The fastest 9th grader in the boys sweeps was a girl from Warren, and Warren wasn't in the race, and there only is a 3 finish time with no results. These even more. I hope they do another sweep of the data and update the results. It affects the merged results and the top 20 teams.
Here is a new "WFMD Power Ranking" for the boys teams, using my same method just updating with Woodbridge speed ratings and a couple of other speed rated races (almost no affect after Woodbridge).
I know one argument is to just let this season speak for itself, and that is one way of doing ratings. I use a very different method, which not only includes last years track season, but last years cross country season as well. The reason being many runners aren't in top form yet, but have a historical data point that is better. Not all runners improve every year, but they usually get close to their previous best, even if they are hitting a physical plateau or had an injury. I also don't know if anyone is injured and out for the season. So take it for what it is worth. I am including the significant transfers that I know about (DH and JSerra). Big moves up by Beckman, JSerra and Ponderosa. I have a longer list, but too many teams below this point on the list don't have a good speed rated list yet. I'll do some of top girls teams later.
Ventura 216.4 Dana Hills 249.4 Great Oak 267.8 San Clemente 291.7 Trabuco Hills 371.9 Newbury Park 456.4 Mira Costa 459 Beckman 468.5 Oakdale 528.3 JSerra 551.4 Buchanan 560.7 Clovis East 616.9 Granada 690.9 Cathedral 714.7 Torrey Pines 729.6 Ponderosa 742.6
Thus the paragraph that starts "I know one argument is to just let this season speak for itself, and that is one way of doing ratings. I use a very different method."
My rankings could be thought of "highest potential based on best marks to date (any year, track or xc)". Some Ventura runners have much better previous marks than they ran last weekend. Again, take it for what it is worth, which is just an approximation based on available data.

Where's palisades charter? LA City section team who was 20th in sweepstakes that I thought was ahead of a couple of these teams listed no? Also St. Francis has a proper team at least over flat. They should be up there too.
Again, using a collection of data for the past year, those 2 teams didn't quite make the cut line, but they are 2 of the next 3 teams.
Yosemite 743.2 St Francis 747.1 Palisades Charter 785.2
It should be noted that St.Francis's results from Woodbridge are incorrect, regardless of the results being "official". The runner listed as their 4th scorer ran a different race, and significantly slower. I even looked at the finishing video in slow-mo, to see if it was another runner, but it wasn't. Every runner is accounted for except this ghost. Ghosts are not included in my rankings. Same with Oaks Christian's ghost which made a huge difference in their scoring. And the two runners with the fastest "official" time of the whole meet currently listed aren't eligible either, because I find their finishing time of 0:00:00 to be unbelievably fast. Yet somehow they are still added to the official "team times" as well. I really hope they fix the data.
And yes, Yosemite is hurting right now due to injuries. But I don't make individual adjustments. These rankings aren't my statement of truth of the best teams, it is just producing a list using a consistent methodology of my own for reference.
Yes, and JSerra includes Orozoco. I did not include transfers to Newbury Park because I wasn't sure they would be better than their current top 5. But admittedly I should do the calculation. I am sure there are other transfers I am not accounting for, like the JSerra girls, but they have such a strong scoring 5 I was just going to wait until that sorted itself out.
Doshi is still getting full credit for his 9:02 3200 in 10th grade. That's a huge mark, and he has a ways to go to get back to that level. Shetty ran 9:15 last year, and they have enough depth to bring them around the level of those teams. But Doshi has to get all the way back.
Girls update. Los Altos got a big bump from Lowell. Both the girls and boys races had big speed rating PBs at Lowell, which mostly were not duplicated at Woodbridge for those who ran both. But I don't make individual adjustments, maybe there is an explanation like travel, so I use the speed ratings as published. I am sure there are some top 10 teams I am missing. Any suggestions? Also, Ventura's score is including their transfer. And Buchanan, yes I know, I know. But going strictly by the numbers, they should much better later this season. Finally, yes I am also surprised Santiago's Woodbridge performance did not create a higher ranking, but examining the data it is because they had a comparatively weak track season. I made the ranking system during track season, so it made sense to weight track season as much as XC because track was the most recent data. Now a good argument could be made that XC Speed ratings from this year should be weighted more. But that is something I will consider later.
Buchanan 42 JSerra 78.2 Ventura 175.1 Los Altos 205 Campolindo 246.1 Cathedral Catholic 279.1 Oaks Christian 332.5 Santiago 358.1 Dana Hills 381 Trabuco Hills 415.1 Newbury Park 451.5 La Canada 540.3 Murrieta Valley 583.6
Boys update including Lowell invite. Granada also set big speed rating PB's at Lowell that they did not replicate at Woodbridge. Maybe travelling for the 2nd of back to back big races weighed them down. In any case, I just use the speed ratings as published. All the top teams race each other later this year and it sorts itself out.
