Yeah, everyone was pumped for Nuguse to break 3:30 a week ago, but Barry’s already forgotten I guess. and didn’t a kid named Joe Waskom run 3:51.9 last weekend? Even in this race, Prakel and Gregorek ran pretty well.

At least wait until next weekend to make such a declaration, if you can’t wait until outdoors.

Lackluster races overall. The depth of high level competition in most events was thin. Tough time of year with Worlds down the road but only Muir and Garcia brought international star power to the mid/distance events. And they cruised to wins. Was not a compelling meet with exception of the men’s 60.

Were there any races that blew our minds like Nuguse and Kincaid at BU? No. But both miles were good: in the women’s, 2 of the top 5 in North America 0.1” apart ahead of world finalist caliber women like Reekie and Tanaka; in the men’s, a 3:32 1500 guy outleaning a 3:31 guy by .01”. It was good to see Jewett run well (indoor PB by over a second) and for a moment with ~80m left I thought he might be able to catch Garcia. Boys HS mile felt like a letdown but it’s crazy that in the first time 2 US HS sub-4 kids raced each other, another kid won in 4:01i and we’re all thinking “boring.” And Bol’s WR sparked the imagination a little bit. Not a jam packed thriller but a decent meet.

You’re digging deep to find the excitement in the meet, when you have two hours of prime afternoon sports tv on a major network, you need to have more of the stars of the sport race. It felt like a good collegiate meet of which there are many each weekend.

Honestly she didn’t look great for her standards IMO. 2:51-2:51-2:57 splits with her last 4 laps the 4 slowest of the race, grimacing through the last lap at 9:02 pace to finish 3/4 of a second ahead of Melissa Courtney-Bryant in a time 14 seconds off her PR. She ran the last 1600m in 4:40.82 vs. 4:36.04 for Katie Snowden. Of course she won and it’s early February so it’s all O.K., but it wasn’t the dominating statement-win you’re saying it was.

Yes, I first thought Muir was just jogging it home after it became quite obvious that she would win easily and no point in hammering towards a low 8:30s time but she didn't look her best. Could be travel and a too short recovery from altitude. However, the race overall was lackluster. I don't know why they have pacers going at low 8:30 goal pace when only two runners follow and these two drop back to more comfortable pace later on.

Well, Americans butcher the pronunciation of nearly every place name that came from the UK. Also, is there ever a correct way to pronounce a name? Take Paris, the Americans and the Brits pronounce it differently than the French, and they surely should know how to pronounce it correctly

It's actually a sign of the importance of a place if foreign countries have their own name or pronunciation for it.
