Bob Knight actually beat up a player at practice and tossed chairs at players. Al Sal just doped his athletes up.
Did he toss the chair at a player, or did he toss the chair across the basketball court in a fury over a poor referee? I mean, either way, it’s not good, but I don’t know if he actually tried to hurt his players.

Knight famously tossed the chair across a court. Knight never beat up a player, though Neil Reid accused him of choking him during a practice. Knight was a great x's and o's coach but a bully and a jack--ss, so I'm not defending him. He was worse.
Yes Knight was a bully whose actions wouldn't be tolerated today. However he didn't cheat and he expected his athletes to act appropriately off the court.
Woody Hayes' temper got in trouble a few times before he was fired for punching the Clemson player. However his players loved and respected him. Very few ever had negative things yo say about him. He was also an admirer of Emerson who lectured at Harvard.
