On 28/01/23, Keely Hodgkinson broke the world indoor 600m record at the Bryggen Sports meet in Manchester. We went behind the scenes of the event and now giv...
Great video. I can't imagine too many athletes who would do a pre-race video like that. I love how they discuss going through in 26/28 or 27/27, I can't imagine having that level of control over 200m. Nice hurdling from Boffey as she left the track as well
Yeah it was very good I was getting nervous in the prerace buildup part. I was thinking right after that convo about pacing and going on inside uhoh could be tricky lol. The pacer was being super nice which is part of her job but then she prac wiped out. Maybe just step off on straightaway. Keely looked very controlled even in the last 100. More please.
On another pacer related note the Polish woman who paced the WA 800 needs to do full races. That was a very good competitive early race. I didn't remember Reekie was only 24 thats good she was good when she was young prob.
(I don’t mean any offence) folks that think females in running need to be skinny should look at the pacer Boffey… maybe it matters at 10k-marathon but she clearly can thrive
Boffey was shooting for 400 in 54, but her PB is only 53 and wasn't quite up for the full two laps after her 800 win. I hope she didn't tweak a hamstring bailing out on the curve.
Keely needs to learn a proper sprinter's arm drive. Her distance sied-to-side arm-swing is why she lost to Athing last summer. Drives me nuts, a basic yet critical thing.

There's nothing wrong with her arm swing, you're talking nonsense.

And you have no idea how the 800 is optimized (much less the 600).
I mean, I’m sure many people here have run faster times than her.
Do you think the people who can run faster than her are doing so because of their superior 'technical skills' or because they're men and it comes easier?

Simple solution - call up Trevor and Jenny and tell them that you are taking over coaching Keely now. I am sure that they and she will oblige. Beside, maybe that have worked on it, but it is more natural and comfortable for her.
You remind me of the sprint coach in my club always trying to change things, yet has NO biomechanical knowledge (just an aesthetic perception) to know what is correct for any given body. Sometimes changing things can create problems rather than solve them, if you don't have the kinesiological background to make those changes.

You type a lot of words. You think that means something.
I have the "kinesiological backround" to institute the proper changes. Any good sprint coach can do so. Trevor and Jenny should avail themselves of their assistance.
Instead of blathering about, take the time to look at the final 100m of the w800 at both World's and Commonwealths and see if your eyes can actually take in the information.

You obviously have no clue about biomechanics. Quit while you're behind.
Yeah I got anxiety when she talked about her peeling off on the inside. That only works on a straightaway of an indoor track. Otherwise you are asking for major trouble. Next time instruct the pacer to run in lane after 250 and hang on until they’re passed on the inside, Keely. That is unless they are confident they can make 350. But great video, and it was good access. To really complete it it would be great to see the workout they did that made her very confident in this result.
