I woke up with a vague metatarsal pain last week but that went away in a day, and I had a fine long run over the weekend. Today, I was doing a run workout on the gym treadmill and I developed a pain after a couple intervals, and it became clear I had to stop. Now I’m having to walk with a limp, so jumping on my right leg is out of question.
This is a metatarsal stress fracture, yes? I’ve had an injury-free streak since late 2021, so this feels totally out of the blue, :/ especially since I’ve been running less than usual this month for unrelated reasons. The only difference is that I switched from road/track to the treadmill for my workouts about a month back, but I didn’t think a treadmill would be worse than road or track. Any tips for quick recovery?
