On 28/01/23, Keely Hodgkinson broke the world indoor 600m record at the Bryggen Sports meet in Manchester. We went behind the scenes of the event and now giv...
Hodgkinson is one of my favorite female athletes right now. She has a great and refreshing attitude and is very realistic about the sport and her place in it. She has none of those prima donna tendencies that a lot of top athletes seem to develop when they get to be among the best. She is well spoken and wise beyond her 20 years. I hope she keeps her head on straight and has a long career.
Thank you for posting. She is a great runner and already very accomplished. With this very fast and controlled 600m she clearly has the potential to run much faster in the 800m.
Not to take anything away from Keely Hodgkinson's Indoor 600m, but perhaps the message board should be reminded that a WR is only notched after it is ratified. The proper terminology is that she "bettered" the existing WR. No WR is ratified until all the paperwork/drug tests are in. For example, at the 2022 Penn Relays in at least one race, an American relay record was not allowed because of a timing glitch. At another USATF sanctioned outdoor meet I participated in, an American record was disallowed because the meet organizers failed to provided wind gauge information. Something to keep in mind if you are an athlete or a coach.

Thanks for ruining the celebration, VAR.
I'll celebrate now and then I'll celebrate again when it's later ratified.
The 600 m is not a world record distance recognized by World Athletics and therefore not go through their ratification process. But it will be considered a World Best. However, it is a distance recognized by USATF and will go through the USATF process.
