Yes, at the UW track. And then ran what? It is extraordinary both for setting the record itself and because it is exceedingly rare for runners to maintain such a high level from high school through college. If it was so easy then why had no one done it since 2009?
Katelyn is definitely running great! But it's NOT really that extraordinary when you realize that HIGH SCHOOLER Alexa Efraimson ran the 1500 in 4:03.39 (mile equivalent of 4:22.8 according to MileSplit) in 2015 (and without super shoes!).
Alexa also ran an insane 9:00.1 3k in HS. Alexa was a beast. She just couldn't maintain improvement.
Not surprisingly Tuohy made the Bowerman watch list. She would probably have to break the 3000m record and swept the 5000m and 3000m at the NCAAs to win it, but nice recognition anyway.
I actually looked earlier today and didn’t see her on the list (which I found SURPRISING since she was just named National Athlete of the Week after breaking the NCAA record).

Did they update it since then, just today?
Jasmine Moore could likely win 4 titles (again) but will she break any records (she owns the indoor triple jump top ten list)? It will take titles+records to win I suspect

you probably didnt click the other slide, theres two photos of it
Tuohy is poised to break the 15-minute barrier this year. Additionally, she will go sub 4:20 next year in the mile.
Tuohy went from 4:16-4:12-4:09-4:06- 4:04 in 2 years, with 4:04 as a conversion of the 4:24 mile. In the 5000m she went from 15:47-15:30-15:14. Those times came from solo efforts and less competitive races. Tuohy's 4:04/4:24 mile indicates a really fast 3000m and 5000m. Elly Henes ran a 14:52 the same year she ran 4:05/4:27. Tuohy looks poised to break 15.
elly broke it outside of US, elly didnt break 15 in any US meets, so where can katelyn break the 15 minute barrier? i dont think the BTC runners would do her a favor
US meets are mostly tactical and not that fast, US trials 5k was a 3k tempo and a mile race
If Tuohy is as good as claimed and she clearly is a strong frontrunner, she should not need the perfecly paced race to get under 15:00. And it should not be too hard to have someone (even team mates like Bush) pace up to 2400 m or so at 3:00 pace at a smaller meeting.

well yes, but that takes a 9:00 3000 so there is not a long list of college runners, even on her team that can do that - best shot for outdoors would probably be a trip for her to Stanford at the end of March (and hold her out of Raleigh Relays at home the prior week).
Actually, Valby and Tuohy ran around 15:18? or so last year in a unpaced NCAA race, so if both improved as some predicted and Valby might again act as semi-voluntary pacer for a large portion of the race, an improved Tuohy might get pretty close to or under 15 even without a set up TT style race.

NCAA in is Austin TX this year so probably not there. Do they both run 5000 at UVA Challenge April 21? It is still on FL schedule.
