I once ran 3:08 pace

No collegiate woman has ran sub 4:25 ever.
Tuohy just did.
4:22 is a dumb time, that pace is dumb hard.
A sub 4:25 miler should not be allowed to run a mile vs college athletes.
But yes it puts the attempts to downplay her performance in context.
Alexa also ran an insane 9:00.1 3k in HS. Alexa was a beast. She just couldn't maintain improvement.
I actually looked earlier today and didn’t see her on the list (which I found SURPRISING since she was just named National Athlete of the Week after breaking the NCAA record).
Did they update it since then, just today?
Jasmine Moore could likely win 4 titles (again) but will she break any records (she owns the indoor triple jump top ten list)? It will take titles+records to win I suspect
everyone wake up! katelyn posted!

Tuohy is poised to break the 15-minute barrier this year. Additionally, she will go sub 4:20 next year in the mile.
Tuohy went from 4:16-4:12-4:09-4:06- 4:04 in 2 years, with 4:04 as a conversion of the 4:24 mile. In the 5000m she went from 15:47-15:30-15:14. Those times came from solo efforts and less competitive races.
Tuohy's 4:04/4:24 mile indicates a really fast 3000m and 5000m. Elly Henes ran a 14:52 the same year she ran 4:05/4:27. Tuohy looks poised to break 15.
elly broke it outside of US, elly didnt break 15 in any US meets, so where can katelyn break the 15 minute barrier? i dont think the BTC runners would do her a favor
US meets are mostly tactical and not that fast, US trials 5k was a 3k tempo and a mile race
If Tuohy is as good as claimed and she clearly is a strong frontrunner, she should not need the perfecly paced race to get under 15:00. And it should not be too hard to have someone (even team mates like Bush) pace up to 2400 m or so at 3:00 pace at a smaller meeting.

well yes, but that takes a 9:00 3000 so there is not a long list of college runners, even on her team that can do that - best shot for outdoors would probably be a trip for her to Stanford at the end of March (and hold her out of Raleigh Relays at home the prior week).
Actually, Valby and Tuohy ran around 15:18? or so last year in a unpaced NCAA race, so if both improved as some predicted and Valby might again act as semi-voluntary pacer for a large portion of the race, an improved Tuohy might get pretty close to or under 15 even without a set up TT style race.
Just cause I was interested, I looked up the next 5 fastest collegiate milers and what their lifetime bests ended up being in the 3k/5k.
So that's collegiate mile PB, then 3k/5k lifetime PB.
4:24.2 - Tuohy
4:25.9 - Barringer (8:29, 14:56)
4:26.5 - Purrier (8:36, 14:58)
4:27.1 - Falland (8:56, 15:32)
4:27.1 - Kipyego (8:34, 14:30)
4:27.5 - Schweizer (8:25, 14:26)

NCAA in is Austin TX this year so probably not there. Do they both run 5000 at UVA Challenge April 21? It is still on FL schedule.

It seems more interesting what people ran in the year (in/out) they ran these mile races.
Barringer 8:42, 15:05; Schweizer 8:41, 15:02.

Cool. Jessica Hull also ran 4:24.9 but it was outdoors, not an official NCAA record. Maybe because out of season?
4:24.9 - Hull (3:58, 8:36, 14:43) . Added in her best 1500m
