Coming up on 28 years in law enforcement. I used to serve at a 5,500 person department, retiring as one of the highest ranking members. I m now a chief at a medium sized department. I've run all during my career and still run now, virtually every day, as I fast approach my 60th birthday. Before climbing the administrative ladder where I did the 9-5 ( really closer to a 7-6), I thrived on the "swing shift" from 2pm to 10pm. I had the whole day to get out and get my runs in yet I still got home at a reasonable hour to get a good night's sleep.
These days, I have to get up at around 4am to get my runs in before work, but I still get it done. I still love running circles around the rookies. Even though I have slowed as I approach 60, today's youth are soft so I still keep my advantage.
Bottom line, you can do it. Just have to adjust your schedule.
