I am looking for analysis on my noob training. I run 4 times a week, 40 miles, with 2022 PBs of 18:01, 36:39, 1:21.
My training is really simple, and slow. Something like 2 runs at 8-10 miles and 8 minute miles, 2 hour long run at 8 minute miles then a workout like 12x400 at 6:00 minute miles.
Would I improve if I dropped down to 30 miles a week, ran 4 times a week, kept the workout, but maybe did 2 runs at 6:30-6:50 and kept a 10 miler at 8:00?
I feel like the mileage and long run is beating my legs up (even though it is not much compared to most runners here). My legs always feel trashed. However I always race consistently (for example I did 5 10Ks in 2022 ranging from 36:39-37:20).
