I told you to keep that a secret.
The times listed are obviously wildly optimistic "expected times". At Boston U. indoors, coaches exaggerate seed times in order to promote their runners into faster sections. Here, the race organizers have exaggerated expected times to make the field seem impressive. At the same time, the runners exaggerate in order to land a meal and a free hotel room in Jersey City. It will be a surprise if any man matches his "expected time." I have not seen the women's field, but the same probably applies.
yeah, first time i have ever seen seed times listed for a marathon. seems like they should have decent weather with high 50s and under 10mph wind
Is there a link somewhere to the elite fields?
Alex Norstrom, has race director Steve Lipski responded to you about Bosuben who, under the rules of the race, should not be eligible for elite entry or prize money? Bosuben was declared ineligible between 11/25/2015 and 10/31/2019 for "doping, presence, use." You might tell Mr. Lipski that the obvious solution is to ban Bosuben from the race, but to instead pay him as a rabbit.

But Your Honor, I only ate a burrito outside of your courthouse from a food truck...
I heard some elites in the marathon got led off course in the last 200 meters. No results posted as of yet in the full. Can anyone confirm what’s going on over there?
Have also been trying to find results and haven't seen anything for the full. Couldn't figure out the participant tracking either
Yes the third place runner on sub 2:19 pace was led to go left instead of right to the finish with 100 meters to go. He was at 2;18:20 when led left instead of right to the finish. In addition to losing 1000 dollars, he missed out on a big pr! I spoke to him after race and it was a race staff that directed him wrong. There was no signs. He was extremely upset and the race officials said they can’t do anything.
That sucks…the finish sneaks up on you and a relatively sharp turn. Not sure how a race official could misdirect but I certainly spotted it because I was directed to it, and probably go to the left of it without someone pointing it out.
The half was won in 1:08:01 by Seth DeMoor’s NYC Marathon buddy Jordan Daniel.
Jordan is great dude. Conditions were rough
Race director sucks. Is he the mayor or the guy who was arrested for peeing on a crowd at a grateful dead concert. Same name and both in city government in jersey city so I am confused. Either way the race director sucks. Pay the third place guy with binary money 💰
I’m a friend of Alberto and none of his outrage is about the money. It’s about someone accepting responsibility for the
mess up. His best friend offered to give him the missed prize money and he refused. This is about principal
I understand. They should give him an adjusted unofficial time for the record book along with an asterisk that says the race *up
This is really a shame. This sort of thing seems to happen way too often. I don't know anything about the particulars of this situation, but I suppose the general problem is caused largely by the almost complete dependence on volunteers to handle course marshaling at many (most?) races. I imagine the race director is happy to take anyone who volunteers and isn't in a position to require them to do much preparation or rehearsal for their roles. As a result, many of the "race officials" really have very little idea of what they're doing. I don't know what the solution is except to pay people to do these jobs, and that would just raise race entry fees even higher than they already are.
The same thing happened a few minutes later as well. Two guys coming in on pace for 2:21 high. The first of them was directed to the left (half marathon) finish line and the 2nd initially was too but then officials told him to turn back around and go to the right (full marathon) finish line and he finished just over 2:22. FWIW the 2nd guy was screaming at steve lipski just after the finish over the cluster/disorganized nature.
They all should've run the Eugene Marathon next weekend. Faster course, better weather, and organizers who actually know how to run a race.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
