I did speed intervals for my whole entire fall/winter season (2022) with time to recover with either no activity or a 1-3 mile light run on the next day. My mileage was really low, at 15-22 miles only out of speed workouts. Was this a good choice or should I have been doing base training? Also, I am incorporating more threshold and base running with my speed sessions lately, is that a good idea? Should I keep doing base training now? I am trying to get past 4:40 in the mile as an 8th grader and have a 7th grade pb of 4:47 (mile) and 4:35 for the 1500.
