Seems like people ive talked to have a negative view of La Crosse, anyone have reasons why?

Not me. Maybe you are talking to other wiac schools.
College kids are always falling in the river and drowning. You find me another school with so many drownings!
Cornell has nets on their gorge to stop people from jumping off. That’s more depressing
The main reason people hate them is because they are bigger than half the D1 schools, are cheap and offer enough academic scholarships to compete with D1 schools but they still compete against much smaller d3 schools. It gives them an unfair advantage, but they get the satisfaction of beating smaller schools and pretending like they are something special because of it.
Too much cultural appropriation in their school name? Their track team was too good?
Having raced lacrosse for years, i recommend you train harder and stop complaining
Looking at the enrollment for other WIAC schools they are 6th out of 8th with 9,708 undergraduate members. NYU has 26,135 undergraduate students and U of Texas at Dallas has 21,615 as a comparison.
I hate them because of the unnecessary e at the end of the name. No need for such nonsense.
They are the same as the other WIAC schools.
the only valid take so far
I graduated a long time ago and don’t care at all, but Iowa/MN schools often have about 1/5th the enrollment. PS, they hate Osh Kosh/Whitewater etc too. More a football/team sport issue where it’s impossible to compete really. MN equivalent schools compete D2 which would be better competitive balance, but WI would rather be big fish in small pond than face equal competition. Doesn’t affect me, but it is what it is.
I was never a fan of UW La-Crosse because I went there to support a friend in the 2011 D3 Wrestling national championships and thought their downtown bars were crap. So, to answer the OP's question, yes.
