So does this mean Sahlman is doing the football thing where they graduate a semester early to practice with the team instead of doing his senior spring? If true, wouldn't that mean he can't chase HS records?
Seems kind of weird otherwise, like running at a race and bothering to travel to a meet at 7000 ft seems rather dumb if he is still living in California.

It was recruit weekend for the team as well as the event honoring the recent national championship. A great weekend to visit and race as the team was being honored as well as hosting recruits. if I was a future recruit on the fence and the NXN champ was there mingling and racing would impress me… Plus you do know his brother goes there?
Some kids drop in-class high school to do virtual for athletic reasons. Is he doing that or was just up for the weekend? He didn't finish hs early but I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't competing for his hs anymore (he was unattached here, but that might just be do to hs eligibility rules--the Youngs had the club jersey on at USA jr xc).
Everyone knows the real question is, who will be their 7th fastest and how fast will they run. Let’s get this thread going! I’ve got Shetty at 4:06. Wait, on second thought, Porter at 4:04.
Sorry, my final answer is Guevara at sub 4! It’s just so hard to decide.
Schohn was #8 last fall without Hector. Can’t forget about him
It will also be interesting to see how well the freshman trio (Dickran, N Sloan and Bernardino) step up. Heard in an interview that this freshman class wants to do what this year’s NP senior class has done
Still pending on which high school the younger Cantu will commit to. And whether Hector will run track this spring
And what about sophomore Watson who ran a 4:39 1600 last spring?

Another GREAT point! There is just so much to know about these JV runners. Just spit balling here, but any chance a separate forum could be created for just this topic? It’s so fascinating and the thirst for more knowledge of these kids is unquenchable!

AAron Sahlman did play football before starting Xc in high school
Looking at the splits this was a tactical race so he was certainly capable of faster.
That's what I say. Closing in 3:07-3:08 is pretty freaking good for first race of the year in Jan at 7K feet.
Plus racing at altitude is so different from sea level, especially if you’re just coming up from sea level. These races could mean Aaron’s only in 4:03 mile shape or he could be in 3:55 mile shape and just very unadjusted to racing at altitude.
Part of me does wonder if we’ll see a Kessler-like 1500m performance out of him this year. I mean a 204 speed rating to win NXN plus a 1:48 800m at 16 could very well equal a 3:36 1500m this year if things go well.

I can’t stand those kind of discussions anymore but that’s still better than Tuohy fans honestly…
thats only during a season. The CIF season doesn't start until end of February
Does this include races open to have open athletes in the same race?
Yes, you can do whatever you want when you're not in season. California is not currently in season.
I don't know about Aaron Sahlman, but I have been told Lex, Leo Young and Brydan Seymour are all running open meets this entire spring and not competing for Newbury Park. Can anyone confirm?

Porter ran a 4:26 1600. Shetty ran a 4:35 1600.
Guevara ran a 4:35 1600/ 4:38 mile.
are they really on pace to reach those times in the above post?
