tomorrow i race a full 2 mile at the armory (hs indoor race). i’m a sophomore girl trying to break 11:40. how should i pace this?
i tend to go out slow, usually in the very back, then pass a ton of people and be up towards the front. i cannot go out fast because i am terrible at speed/would probably die. in xc i can’t keep up with the pace we sprint the field, but then can get first place by the end.
i try to split evenly, but should i actually try and go out a little faster the first mile? everyone else seems to do this, and i’m never even satisfied with my times. how would you pace a 2 mile? gonna be a competitive race because it’s an invitational with lots of really good girls.
