I’ll start:
Sectional 2 (northeast Wisconsin) had 4 of the top 12 kids at state (if I remember correctly).
800: idrk, it’s an 800
1600
1st: Schimke. Bros a beast.
2nd: Noah Jahnke. Gotta go with experience over youth here: Grady Lenn is a stud, but I think he’ll fare better in the 2 mile.
3rd: Grady Lenn
3200:
1st: Schimke. Man is good as mileing, but can also do distance. Plus, he carried me in fantasy xc, so I like him. So what if I’m biased.
2nd: Grady Lenn. He finished 6th (I believe) in the state as a freshman, and I think he’s more of a distance guy than a pure speed guy.
3rd: Logan Salzmann. Let’s be real; he finished 10th at state xc, he’ll do well in the 2 mile.
NOTABLE OMISSIONS (from both lists):
Matthew Schmoll: bro has gotten really good over the past year, and ran low 16s. Could do some damage.
Sam from Bayport: just transferred to Bayport, got cleared to run varsity for them, got mid-low 16s.
Kaukauna 2 guy for xc: if I remember correctly, he almost made state for xc. Was only 1 or 2 individual qualifier places out.
Pufalls/Heim: sub 17 xc runners, and can grind to some solid times for track.
4x800 predictions:
1. Kimberly- very solid team that won the xc sectional, and I think they run it back here.
2. Appleton North- would have probably made state if it weren’t for their stacked sectional with SPASH and Neenah. No extremely good runners, but a lot of extremely solid runners.
3. Bayport- they had at least 3 guys under 17 for xc. They will fare well.
NOTABLE OMISSIONS:
GB Preble- gotta include Preble. Although they had a down year for xc, you can never count them out.
De Pere- very young team, but had some fast runners during xc. Could do some damage.
Kaukauna- I hate to use the term “top heavy” here, but I feel like I have to. They could still run fast.
