Where would 49.xx 400m speed and 16:30 5k get me in mid distance events?
Where would 49.xx 400m speed and 16:30 5k get me in mid distance events?
It would get you a prescription for more endurance work. Get that 5k under 16 please.
You don’t have the aerobic to be competitive with most other 1500/mile guys.
440s, maybe 430s for the mile. You might even break 430 this year. I don't have a guess on the 800, but I think you could be even better at it or at least as good as the mile.
I ran about 1:55 for the 800 when my other prs were in your range. However, much depends on what training you did to get those times.
Pretty standard PRs for an 800 guy who runs 1:5X
I didn't stimulate my aerobic much, not a lot of miles beyond cooldown and warmup jogs (25ish mpw). I do my own mileage runs personally, which is just a long run (1 hour very easy, don't count the distance at all) on sunday. I'm not naturally fast twitch too. These PRs are through lifting and 90s style 200/400 training, and everyone else I train with under my club's coach completely sucks at endurance. I'm an 18 y/o taking a gap year btw.
1:51 1:55 and 1:59 are completely different leagues, where do you think I'm at?
How old are you?
I regularly compete against a few 16-18 year olds who run around 51-52 for 400m, can't break 16:30 for 5k, but run in the 3:55 - 4:05 range for 1500m.
They seem to lack the aerobic base/years of training to be able to hold a 5k together, but they have good speed endurance.
I have coached 2 Aussie guys with 50 second 400m Pb's to 1:50.04 and 1:50.78.
Train smart race fast! Good luck.
I had a couple teammates who were right around those times: 49-50 for 400 and around 16-mid/27:00 for 8k.
Their other PRs were very close to:
Runner A: 1:51, 4:01 1500m
Runner B: (this guy was more like 17:00 5k) 1:53, 4:06 1500m
49 in an open or relay? If its in an open Id say sub 1:55 is very likely if an open, If on a relay still possible tho.
16:30 5000m and 49.5 400m :
1:55 800m
4:24 mile
