The conference originally had Utah, then Oregon State slated to host the meet. Utah apparently has construction going around the area of their track stadium, and Oregon State's seating capacity is inadequate. The conference took over the management of the meet when it became apparent that no one wanted to move up in the rotation to host the meet, so that's why it's at a neutral site. No big deal--the Pac-12 has its conference football and basketball championships in Las Vegas, and UNLV isn't in the P12!
Or do you mean potential investors for a TV deal for the conference? Why would they care about a track meet? They are interested in football and to a lesser extent basketball.
PAC12 needs a CEO from, for example Apple TV to bring it into the streaming era. PAC12 ideally must become a Direct-To-Consumer Streaming business as we see sports teams transition towards.
The Pac-12 (excuse me, Pac-10 again after the departure of USC and UCLA next year) will have its reservations about competing in Salt Lake at that altitude. Boulder, CO even higher. Huge advantage to those home teams.
Any streaming rights for PAC will be for all sports in the league led by football and basketball. We already learned from PAC12 network that nobody watches or will pay 4 the second tier sports except friends and family of athletes. There is no 'big streaming daddy' for 150 viewers.

Boulder has no track stadium. It's a practice facility. They did bring in temporary bleachers for the one time they hosted Big 12s over a decade ago, and even then capacity was well south of 5K. Record attendance was set for that meet at 2784. Permanent seating is in the range of 500. There's scant parking near Potts, to boot.
The scramble for a streaming daddy is getting ridiculous. Mt Sac is a Jr College not even in the PAC-12. God help us!

football conf champ games are never at a school in the conference
LA, Bay, Southwest is an Ocean of Lithium when it comes to athletes. For centuries they have dominated the Olympics, pro sports, and college sports. Some estimate the SW can support 10 time the college teams at the NCAA Division I level. That's the Ocean of Lithium in contention now. Fox Sports In Marina Del Rey grabbed SC, UCLA, the whole B10 Conf, and Fox Sports is just getting started. Which $B streamers steal away the remainder of SW schools, all or part will be exciting to watch.
There is always some goofy logic to your 'olympic 4' and streaming logic.
1 of course CA and sw colleges produce great athletes, many of the best high schoolers will enroll there for the weather. Many pros like Syd will move there for the weather.
2 and I completely disagree about the region supporting 10x more div1 teams. Because THE WEATHER is so good, sports fans have many options to go do sports, instead of paying to attend games. Oakland A's, Padres, Chargers, Raiders, Clippers, Ducks, Coyotes among most poorly attended pro teams. UCLA and USC great for big10 and fox for national TV audience, but even these 2 stalwarts no longer fill their stadiums with local fans. So no, if top brand teams lack fan support, there is not room for 10x more teams.
3 while streaming still may be the delivery pipeline of the future, what's being piped are the regular tv channels when it comes to big time sports. The networks pay the college leagues billions to air football and basketball on their mainstream channel. If you want to watch Fox or ESPN on your streaming provider great. 'Over the top' streaming is provided as a service, it's still way to small to be making any money.

Correct...since the conference started the football championship game in 2011, it's been either at Levi's Stadium or Allegiant Stadium except for the first three years (campus sites) and the Covid year (at LA Coliseum).
The only schools right now who could adequately host the Pac-12 track champs are Washington (and that's dicey because of the sinking infield), Washington State, Oregon, Stanford, Cal, USC, UCLA and Arizona. ASU is out because of the Coyotes hockey arena next door to the track.
When fintechies speak of crypto college sports they plan to take one of the top individual existing schools in the NCAA and use the legacy heritage to fork a dozen of so crypto teams.
For example, the UGA Football segment of the market could be forked into two UGA Athletics Dept teams plus 10 other teams that would play at Sanford or a nearby stadium or both or float around the state like the old Negro Baseball Leagues did back in the day.
But who will pay to watch the watered down version of UGA play at Samford, or floating around the state? So much of college football is 'every game matters,' league play, rivalries, pageantry.
