That mile time for Meyer is equivalent to a 4:16 1500 while the km equivalent is about 2:14 800. That isn't a "we haven't touched our speed yet" situation.
Obviously history is written in July/August not January, but it's unusual seeing pros drop those times.
I am impressed with today's performance by Sonia O'Sullivan's daughter Sophie. After a couple of slower seasons at UW she busts some really good PRs of 2:05 and 4:36.
The entire UW squad looked great today, let's hope they keep things rolling and fulfill the promise that always has seemed to be a bit unfulfilled.
Look for Willis in the 800 and Whittaker in the mile at the Arkansas Invite in a couple weeks . . . if Juliette can get down around 4:30, expect the mile to be her event at NCAA indoors . . . along with a killer DMR . . .
Whittaker's indoor pr is 2:02.07 at Virginia Beach a couple years back . . . while Willis's indoor pr is 2:00.06/hs indoor record at BU last year.
Stanford will be back at BU in a few weeks . . .
So, there's quite a bit more left in the tank for these two.
Whew, the announcer was tough to listen to in some of these races. Kept saying the wrong person was in top places.. like Gorze.. Guy though Gorze ran 7:51 as the obvious Stanford runner (Hart) finished. Solid races though!
Which one? The in-hose announcer (Paul Merca) or the Runnerspace announcer?
The Runnerspace announcer had no idea who was who. Maybe he had bad information on bib numbers, but in race after race the names he said were wrong.
