Hi,
After I heard Tom Schwartz speak on several different podcasts, I was very inspired by his training philosophy and have read everything I could find about him on this forum amongst others.
I think I've got a good understanding of the basic principles:
-Run about 60min easy 5-6 days a week
-Run 90-120min easy once a week
-Once a week run CV reps, or fartlek about 2-4min with 60-90s jog recovery
-Once a week run a tempo run of 30-40min @tinman tempo pace (about 2h race pace, 80% of Vo2max), plus a 10-15min warm up and warm down
-Run 4-8 reps of 15-30s strides 2-3 times a week
-----------------
I have a few questions that I couldn't find an answer for though:
1. I've seen he say that you should include workouts with reps @LTP sometimes aswell. Why is that when it sounds like CV is better in every way?
Also, the weeks you're doing a LTP workout, should it be instead of the CV or tempo workout?
2. I've seen him metioning "Easy tempo pace" (3h race pace) around 75% of Vo2max. Why and when should you train at this pace and what would such a workout look like?
3. If you're just a regular runner who might run 1-2 recreational races per year, should you sometimes include race-pace workouts like 6x800m @5K pace or 4x2000m @10K pace?
4. Is there any directions for race specifik training during the last weeks before a race?
