McDonnell had no idea Palmer was leaving so no foreshadowing there. I don’t think the McDonnell’s were too fond of her training at Alabama. Reason he left Bama? Because his wife is on the Florida payroll too as a coach. She was volunteer at Bama.
Possibly it would be more productive for her to practice race tactics (e.g., with fartlek-tempos) in some of those low key collegiate meets now being held on that new indoor Mondo track in Gainesville.

I think she would draw spectators, but I’m not sure stands/bleachers have been installed yet.

Too bad Tyynismaa didn’t join up with Valby. Folks would probably have traveled for miles to watch those two ladies race (even workout-efforts) around that new track.

Who knows, if Valby can continue on her progression-trajectory, maybe some day they’ll call that new facility, dedicated to the late University of Florida Coach Jimmy Carnes, “the house that Valby built” (a figure-of-speech). We can sometimes dream big!

“The prime attraction is a 200-meter track, the only indoor one in the state. It was built in Italy by MONDO, the company that produces running surfaces at most Olympic stadiums.
“The white lines they’d painted were still drying Saturday, so nobody could try it out right away. Too bad. The rubberized red surface and banked turns look like they could turn any track dreamer into Usain Bolt.
“The first event is the 10th Annual Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track Invitational this coming weekend.”
Wouldn’t it be neat if Parker were to get race the 3000m there this weekend, for the christening of that new track’s first meet?

Is this a HS only meet? Events seem to go in age groups up to 17-18 (max)
…that new facility, dedicated to the late University of Florida Coach Jimmy Carnes…
“One of the leading figures in the formation of The Athletics Congress/USA, as USATF was known when it began operations, Jimmy Carnes was TAC's first president (1980-1984) and worked closely with executive director …”
