Interesting that my last post about the new PSU coaches was deleted...Someone must be trying awfully hard to hide the truth about the two new coaches they hired and the unfortunate direction of an already failing program.
I am sure Riley probably reported the post since she would hate to have anyone say anything bad about her or the people she is associated with. Similar comments about Riley can be found across other posts on here so if you are interested in what was said simply search up her name.
LOL-if this is actually Dan. We had a great conversation about the NCAA tournament as we were walking to the track.
My daughter was recruited by Duke, went through the process including an official, we did an unofficial and met with Dan and Rhonda on campus. Went to Junior day at Duke, spoke with Coach Riley at several HS meets. It was nothing but a positive experience, they had better recruits for sure than my daughter.
Anyone thinking it's easy to recruit at Duke doesn't understand how it works. Think about the other schools Duke is competing against and more importantly they are competing against the entire Ivy league, my daughter ended up in the Ivy league. Runners looking at Duke are also looking at top academic institutions, there is nothing easy about recruiting runners to Duke especially considering the academic requirements to get in. At junior day, Coach Riley handed everyone a sheet with what they were looking for, I saw several athletes and parents heads droop, they weren't going to duke that was for sure because there was no way they had the academic and test requirements.
Duke distance had plenty of team success under their direction.
They won't have to worry about high academic standards at Portland State. The challenge will be to get talented athletes to consider a commuter college that does not have its own track facility. It will also be tough to sell the campus as there are several large homeless camps adjacent to it.
