Brosnan is the future. Accept it!
Brosnan is the future. Accept it!
Amen, accept it and move on. I see people crying about Brosnan and are so upset their criticism doesn’t stay on the message boards. like it or not he can coach and athletes will run for him and run fast.
Brosnan and other top coaches will continue to l get criticism from the low life’s because he and they are successful and will keep doing what people think they can not.
Well said Sean!

Why was my post deleted? Because I said what is obvious, that Brosnan is on here commenting/upvoting/downvoting. This board is ridiculous!

At the end of the day you all will keep thinking it’s ONLY the school that attracts the best athletes. Yes that has been true and will continue to be to some extent. But now with social media and coaches having a presence as great recruiters with personalities there has been a shift in this. Look at Prime in Colorado. Yes it’s a P5 but no one has ever mentioned Colorado as a football team in the last 2 decades. Now look what’s happening. Kids are going to relate to Sean brosnan better than Lance Harter that doesn’t mean one is a better coach then the other but one is a hell of lot more relatable to todays athletes and the other looks like someone in a history book or a popular breakfast food label. Either way accept it and move on. It’s time for change.

So, why has Brosnan been unable to recruit well? Other than Barnett, who apparently had reasons to move (family, city) other than Brosnan as noted by her less than 1 day in the transfer portal, he has had very little success so far. You may think kids are going to relate to him, but there are plenty who are completely turned off by his personality. Why do people assume he will recruit well when he’s never done it?
He just started too late in calendar year to impact many recruits. The 2023-24 class is even all locked up already. His only real option was transfers - now and after spring track is over. Next year's HS class of '24 for the 2024-25 NCAA year will be the first good read on his traditional HS recruiting ability.
On the women's side to get Barnett and McDonnell is equivalent to a top 10 HS recruiting class.

Did Cal Poly not start too late in the calendar year? That coach started a month earlier and had zero ties to CA, where Brosnan was a "celebrity" in CA. Yet the Cal Poly coach completely mopped up Brosnan in recruiting CA kids. Excuses, excuses or how does the famous Brosnan Letsrun comeback go? Is it "yeah but, yeah but"? An L is an L
Cal poly mopped up all the CA mid level girls. Brosnan on the other hand was looking for girls who run a sub 4:48-looks like he has the big picture in mind. If he is recruiting those type of girls he will have an amazing team in a year or two. I know 2 cal poly recruits that Brosnan passed on. He wants high caliber right out of the gate. I think he has the smarter end game.
Cal Poly coach was already a college coach, an experienced recruiter, and had already built relationships with class of '23. He was not starting from scratch.
Brosnan is picky and smart wrote:

So what was his strategy on the guys side? Pick up a single mid level recruit, no transfers and no blue chips. Definitely the smarter approach there too!
His girls team will not be amazing in a year or two. They have no chance of qualifying for NCAA’s next year, even with the additions.
Sounds like next year, best case scenario, he’ll have a guys and girls team scratching to make top 10 at regionals.
I think he has to focus where he can get the fastest impact-the girls right now. The guys will take time. For the girls though I think with the transfers-and maybe a couple more he can get the girls there in a year or two and that will drive top HS recruits to go there. He is setting high standards to get on that team which I think is going to work well for him. No way cal poly girls will even be close to even getting to NCAA’s with their recruiting class.
For men, transfers after spring track.
I doubt the ad set a goal of making nationals in first year.
