No you are missing the insight this person brings that says no matter the starting point ones improvement rate should be independent. (sarcasm)

hmmm is sisson in a cubicle job? you are the same poster in every thread. it is tired, making the exact same argument.
Cool. If a runner was slower in high school they will have a higher "rate of improvement", which means nothing. And Monson's college 5000m times were pretty steady. Just the same silly dead horse.
Monson dropped 4 minutes from age 16-20. Tuohy was more like 20 seconds. Good example for your case.
College times are just 15:10s. Tuohy will naturally just shave off time that is needed for the competition she's in. Monson had to drop those minutes to be competitive in college, I assume her time in high school was 19 minutes in the 5000m. Tuohy was already a 15:37 at 15.
Tuohy ran 15:15 at BU getting beaten pretty badly. Tuohy embarrassed herself against better competition in the 5000 6 months ago. Don't pretend that she is not trying. 15:15 may be her lifetime best because she has barely improved over the past 5 years while others are making huge improvements.
Tuohy ran 15:37 at 15 and it wasn't until four years later on 2021 after getting knee surgery that she ran a 5000m track race again. Let us see Tuohy's college improvements and her pr trend.
5000m
2021 outdoor 15:47, 15:50, 16:45
2022 indoor 15:41, 15:30 (runs close to her last pr then cuts it down)
2022 outdoor 15:14, 15:50, 15:27, 15:18
2022 indoor 15:15 (runs close to her last pr)
1500m
2021 outdoor 4:16, 4:14, 4:12, 4:13, 4:20, 4:23
2022 outdoor 4:12, 4:09, 4:20, 4:06 (runs close to her last pr then cuts it down)
See how Tuohy runs her personal best first then you know what happens next, she cuts it down.
So you're saying that she hasn't really improved in the 5000 over her entire adult life?
I must say you must have a terrible life seeing how you only seem to interpret things in a negative manner.
Is it a fact? Facts are neither negative nor positive. What was he trying to point out? I can't tell.
How about if I predict that Valby will break the NCAA record in the 5000? Can't be more positive than that.
Your lack of brain cells are showing, keep it up genius!👌
well you clearly must define "adult" as 20 and older as she improved vs her time at 19. So she hasn't improved as an adult (ie at age 20 which she still is) in the 6 months between when she ran her pr and the BU race in which she sid she was a little run down (from having won NCAA XC individual and team titles). And you choose to characterize that in a negative way. Can I get you a half empty glass? BTW I guess Valby has not improved as an "adult" either!
Ah, no wonder you can't comprehend, you're a valby fan.
Sadly for you, Tuohy doesn't need a big improvement to beat Valby who is always improving more and dropping times drastically. It would piss me off too if I were a in your place. It is what it is, Valby could have been a multiple champion if she wasn't running in the same time as Tuohy.
What did you mean Tuohy is improving more? Valby has improved much more than Tuohy. And there is no sadness here and certainly no anger as in the curse word that you used. I love watching races regardless of who wins. Tuohy's win in XC was one of the best. Schweizer's win is still my favorite though.
Tuohy is 3-0 against valby so far genius!
So you think runners don't improve? That means Tuohy will never break 15.
How many times did Schweizer lose to several competitors before continuing her incredible improvement?
