Valby wanted to quit running until Solinsky stopped her from quitting. Months later, Valby became one of the top distance runners in the country. Now that Solinsky is transferring to Oregon. Can Valby still run fast? Or will she transfer with her coach?
Of course. There are tons of athletes in programs where they are only the big star. McCabe, Schweizer, Elle Purrier, Lokedi, etc. If you are good, you will be good. Of course having a good coach and training partners near your level are always helpful.
Florida is obviously a sprint school. But I’m sure they want the points an individual stud like valby can provide on the track. That said I’m sure they’re looking for a new distance coach that understands this and won’t come in trying to be high mileage lydiard with her. They don’t care about XC team which considering her apt for injury is a good thing. Let her swim in the pool all day.
She is by far the most specially trained distance runner in the US. She has a coach who attends only to her, named Solinsky. She doesn't run 25MPW, the correct number is 40MPW, then add the track workouts, add 2 hours of cross training every other day of the week, add gym workouts, add swimming. Training like a Pro.
But none of you seem to believe anything that she or Solinisky states. Her average mileage was 25 MPW for the fall if you listen to all of their interviews. She peaked in the 30s.
She credited her vast improvement with running more than the 30 mpw she did in high school. Her words directly. She gives different answers in each interview.
Like I said. You claimed to know her mileage by correcting me but as soon as you are asked how much she really runs, you state that you have no idea and that she provides inconsistent information. So maybe it really is 20 MPW.
Many people thought Shelby Houlihan would not progress much once she left Arizona State but she ended up with the Bowerman Track club and did just fine.
Your last post stated that she provides different answers every time. Now you claim that you disregarded all answers except the one that you wanted to hear. I listened to every interview that she has provided. I am her biggest fan. Are you?
Trying to predict someone's times several years into the future using their current "Improvement curve" is not going to be inaccurate. Runners rarely improve that predictably.
