That’s why I say “if interested” no one has to listen and I’m not asking anyone to. Simply displaying content I’ve made with relevant people within the running world (particularly Lex and Leo).
everyone should just chill and leave them alone... they don't owe anyone a story explanation. They are literally just 17 year olds from California that happen to run fast. Let them be teenagers. I'm sure whatever happened with aaron -if anything- was dealt with already and they don't need to make a big deal about it. Plenty of high school boys fight, even teammates, and none of them are required to explain what happened have random adults begging them for an explanation or apology. Why are we so interested in whatever two 17 year olds fought about that were arguing about it. Because they happen to be fast?
Or because they have intentionally generated and sought interest through their YouTube channel, podcasts like these, etc.
It's an interesting story for sure and I think most people are right, that a real journalist would understand the situation and the greater audience's interest in the topic and deliver to the listeners what they want, which sometimes can alienate or be difficult for the guest. However, this "journalist" is still a young kid and learning. Hopefully he'll use this as a lesson for the future on the difficulty of balancing relationships with the role he's chosen.
I say peddle away. This website started as someone's project. Whether something's lame is in the eye of the beholder. I prefer openly advertising rather than some shoe company shill's attempt at native advertising or stealth marketing. (What does anyone think of THESE shoes? Did you see what spikes SO-AND-SO was wearing?) THAT'S my definition of lame. Just be a real company and pay for an add, or earn some coverage by doing something interesting.

Fair points, I appreciate your input. I am not a member of Newbury Park so I don't know everything that happened. With that being said, things did happen and out of respect for my guests I wasn't going to ask them a question that they didn't want to answer/didn't feel comfortable answering.
Again, I will make a point to get Aaron Salhman on the podcast in the future.

this! people here need to stfu and mind there own business. putting down on teenager’s that happens to be some of the most talented this country have ever seen, is freaking pathetic. if you can’t encourage running, stay off this forum
These are high school kids who did nothing more than have an "off" day in a big moment. It's perfectly fine to take it easy on them and not press them on sensitive topics. It's not like we're talking about someone who committed a crime or is a celebrity athlete. I'd feel like you were a jerk if you did try to beat them up on a topic they don't want to discuss.

These are high school kids with a YouTube that run in professional races. They talk about wanted to compete at world juniors this season in the podcast. If they can't show enough respect to their teammate to congratulate him on a National Championship it shows their poor character. Tough loss and obviously something else happened too but just for their social image they could have at least congratulated him instead of talking about themselves for 40 minutes and complaining about the food that apparently Aaron and the rest of the field had no problem fueling themselves with.

Yes, because they happen to be fast. I also care about what Scottie Pippen thinks about Michael Jordan because they're really good at basketball. Newbury Park is making our little sport interesting to people outside of these forums (why I'm a big L&L fan), but any journalist worth his salt would've asked about a very interesting thing that happened between its runners.

Everyone can complain all they want about not asking the question, but they should realize the way L&L are there is a 98.6% chance they would given a non-answer like "We prefer not to talk about it. And our coach told us to keep team stuff in house. We just keep moving forward and focus on the year ahead." And that is the correct answer anyway. So asking or not asking is a moot point.
Again, the podcast wasn't about Aaron Salhman. I have a limit slot with Lex and Leo when we record and want to maximize the time I have with them. Could I have asked, "How cool was it to see Aaron win?" Most definitely! But I decided to maximize the time discussing events that directly affected them.
I will for sure get Aaron on the podcast and talk about his win and the journey to get there. I have nothing against Aaron; his race just didn't happen to get brought up. Maybe was a poor job of interviewing or was just me sticking to the script, up to you to decide.
And this is why you’re an awful podcaster. I surely won’t listen to this.

Then maybe ask a follow up question they would answer like “What did you think of Aaron’s race?” But maybe they would’ve answered it, wouldn’t that have been kinda interesting?

I think you’re 100% right and I should have. My mistake, and I can’t change what I didn’t do.
