Decided to create a training log to chronicle my 800/1500m training. I'm on my college's club team and I'm going to try to walk on next year, but I'll likely need a sub 4:10 mile or equivalent. I took a few days off after the end of club XC and have been training for about 3 weeks since then. I'd appreciate any criticism and suggestions.
Monday: easy 30; easy 20 + 4x15s strides
Tuesday: 12x400 + 2x150 - 78, 78, 77, 76, 75, 76, 75, 76, 75, 75, 74, 73; 20.7, 21.0. Ran these at 8k effort and a little faster than 800 effort and felt good. Picked it up naturally towards the end but I wasn't straining at all.
Wednesday: easy 45
Thursday: fast 2.5 miles (5:50 pace) including 2x100 strides; 4x50m all out (low 6's) including 2.5 mile warmup / cooldown
Friday: 1 warmup (7:30), 3 steady (18:00), 1 cooldown. felt sluggish, but my sleep was off (slept from 2-11 due to schoolwork) so I was expecting this
Saturday: 800 pace ladder, 1:2 work/rest - 15.5, 30.1, 45.3, 45.7, 30.2, 14.9. Ran these in old spikes and only felt difficult for the last 50 and 100 for the 1st and 2nd 300, respectively.
Likely going to run a medium long run (about 10 miles) tomorrow.
PRs: 2:02 (ran a week ago off no speedwork - aiming to drop it to at least 1:55 in a few months), 9:40 (junior year), 25:53.
