For some reason I was reminded of this drama today. Peak highschool XC in 2013. The twitter aftermath with John’s (then) girlfriend was incredible. Any other LetsRun folk remember this one?

No one cares.
Nope.
Epic back and forth sprint finish with Dressel cutting in on Fisher with 300m, he and Fisher having contact in the last 100m and Fisher winning his first of two national FL championships.
I remember Dressel badly cut him off/manhandled him *twice* down the stretch, and Grant still managed to kick his a**.
I think I also remember GF bring asked about it post-race, and being ridiculously gracious, not complaining at all.
An amazing kid.
I didn't remember Dressel's girlfriend had anything to do with it.
I remember another story of his assholery at footlocker west, the top three in the region, him included, had agreed to cross the line together in some kind of friendly display and he just kicked away. I understand the Pre mentality of never losing, but at least be good enough to win nationals before you start acting like it.
1) that was Borderclash
2) this was almost 10 years ago. I was an idiot in HS too. Thankfully I wasn’t being live streamed on Flotrack
Remember that one time there was a great xc race and some dork decided to bring up twitter?
And the term "Dresseling" was born.
John Dressel had a good college career. In 2021 after college he announced going to Puma, but I haven't seen any pro results yet?
I believe he recently ran a half marathon. Something in the 63s IIRC
He ran at Cross Champs in Austin a week ago. He's had some decent results this year but you'd probably miss him with a 2:21 at Chicago and 62+ in Houston. Sub-28 in March might have been the year's highlight.
Were you touching yourself?
Nope, fill me in please.
Nothing much to see really, except for the weave that creates minor contact with 100m left. The earlier cut-in by Dressel is to cut a sharp tangent in the course to save ground and Fisher had just done the same thing. No interference there.
I've never heard of John Dressel so I suppose we know who won this one in the end.
I just went back to read some of those old threads and there were so many people saying Maton and Dressel would have better career than Fisher lol. Which seems bizarre even at the time, considering Grant ran like 45 MPW and was a soccer player up until Junior year of HS.
On further review you're an idiot. He reaches out to throw him a sharp elbow-shoulder block about 60 m out, when Grant's blowing by him and he knows he's lost.
I'd forgotten about that Border-Clash thing. Yeah, that was a fairly amazing d*ck-move too.
Those two things together, in short order, convinced me (and lots of others) that this kid was probably a real a**hole.
I'm still waiting to hear what the hell his girlfriend has to do with it.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
