Also for those who read the article referenced at the start of the thread, I think there are a lot of interesting details to unpack from it that are separate from the 1500m vs 5k discussion.
-during rehab he put himself in a totally different environment and did a business internship in Chicago. Some might hate on this detail and say this points towards him being checked out and probably just phoning the last two years in to retirement. I think it's good for him mentally while going through injury as it probably provides more day to day balance in life. Seems like more runners are starting to do this.
-He doesn't want to do indoor track, presumably because of the tight turns, and he hopes to race outdoor in Australia soon. But he is running the Merrie Mile, a race with a hairpin turn, as his first race back from ACL surgery... Hope he is feeling really good about his rehab and that knee taking lateral movements.
-I like his attitude towards his upcoming races in that he knows he's not in great shape but is using them to get accustomed to race environments again. Molly Seidel said a similar thing about coming back at BAA half knowing she wasn't in shape, and she expressed frustration with the mindset of many pro runners that they need to be in perfect shape before toeing the line. Biggest example of this is BTC, so I wonder if Centro wanted to race more than Jerry would let him during his time with the group.
