Morhad Amdouni 2:05:22, Paris, April 3, 2022, is the French record holder. Amdouni from Porto Vechio, Corsica is a phenomenal runner, in my opinion much stronger than Nico Navarro from Toulon, South France, who finished 13th today in Valencia with 2:07:01, having said that big Kudos to Nico Navarro - Real guts and he never gives up.
Hi ghost, do you have any training info on Morhad Amdouni
Amdouni: Sorry nothing much, beyond the fact that he trained as a middle distance runner for years, so he was always about quality. If I get specifics, they will be posted here.
Nico Navarro is far from that level but understandable as he is a late starter and never served an apprenticeship on the track. He is classic metronome marathon runner, runs almost as if sitting down. Does not waver from start to finish. Robot, with strong mental capacity to withstand pain, as he's a former close to professional level cyclist.
Good grief, CB! Turn an ankle in one of these and you're toast. What's next, high heels for the marathon?
Valentin Witz, a French full time policeman (military police /gendarme) from the north eastern town of Metz, near the German border shocked many people with his results in Valencia, 2:10:04. He works full-time and his best time for the half marathon a few months ago was merely 1:08:00 +
interestingly, in this race he beat full-time professional runner Felix Bour, a 1:01:00 half guy (13:15/27:51, on track), who debuted with 2:10:40. This means that amateur runners can reach very high “professional level” even when not devoting their days full-time to athletics

I am not shocked by a nonPro running 2:10. But what the heck is the story behind a 25 year old going from 68 to 2:10... Was he was running HM on 30mpw...
There have always been a few random late bloomers who pick up the sport in their 20s but this seems odd...
The PB of Witz on half marathon is not 1:07 but 1:03:05 which he ran this year in March. Witz also ran 28:45 in 10k one week before Valencia's marathon. He also did 59:10 on the 20 km of Paris in October. His time on marathon doesn't come from nowhere in my opinion.
I don't know what this dude looks like but the mere fact that he is not being accused of doping by everyone here tells me he is very white.
Nico Navarro is the last person to dope, imho. Too much to lose. His whole career would evaporate into the dust were he to dope and be caught. He has multiple contracts now with (among others) Marseille Fire Brigade, ON shoes, SCO club, Fédération Française Athlétisme and many others. In effect he's getting multiple salaries - much better than what he earned as a mere salesperson at Decathlon sports megastore for years, which was around €1500 month only.
And the arabic French runners? Do they have less to lose?

Sure. But that 63:00 came out of nowhere. How many 67min guys have you met who dropped 4 mins off their HM in 1 year.....

Yep, everyone's whole career evaporates into the dust when they dope and get caught.

Witz is a military policeman in Metz, presumably above board, but if I’m missing something or naïve then that’s another matter. His improvement is astonishing but he’s not the only one to improve in a short time. What amazes me is that military policeman in France normally work shifts covering 24 hours and that’s not conducive to good running training.

Maybe he's coached by the magic Swede JS?
As far as I know the magic swede is focusing his efforts on coaching Kenyan runners at this time. He is often praised by these lads on WhatsApp. Check out the Meguara running club in Kericho, Kenya
