I will answer one of yours - No, I don't remember being "assured" that I "would not get and cannot transmit" covid. I remember being told that the vaccines were testing in the 80-90% efficiency range against the original covid variant.
Two points on that. 80-90% is not 100%, which means that there will be (and were) breakthrough infections. If you understand math, you know that 10-20% (or higher, since not 100% of people were vaccinated or attempted ANY precaution to reduce transmission) of the population is a huge number of people who were going to get covid and allow the virus more opportunity to mutate and therefore more easily escape the protections of the original vaccine mix.
