Nobody cares that she’s in a penal camp. She deserves the Gulags. She shouldn’t have broken the law
Living with a cellmate in a box & being told what to do all day, & no pizza, steak or Friday night going out. No personal space. Feel like a number with no dignity.

Done no prison time - but I agree with your "journey" theory to the point where the awfulness of it becomes normality. Tragic.
I did a quick search about the cost of incarceration as I knew fundamentally it is substantial, and in New York state the average cost is the highest in the nation at around $70k annually. So this dude at 19 - assuming he makes it to only 60, is going to cost the taxpayer close to 3 million dollars to sit in jail and contribute nothing to society. As a footnote, the median household income in NY state is also just over $71000
In these instances (heinous crime with a guilty plea) I wonder how this is justified vs "other alternatives". Can anyone really sit here and be like "yeah this is just a cost we (but primarily NY state taxpayers) should have to foot to keep this person alive when they will contribute nothing to society ever again and have only caused destruction in their last act of freedom in it". This money could go to poverty, schools, healthcare - any plethora of causes - it's going to be spent on some racist sh$tbag to rot away in prison for the rest of his days.
Makes you wonder doesn't it.
Convicted felons on Death Row cost tax payers more than convicted felons serving life in General Population. Due to the finality of a death sentence, death row inmates are given access to quality attorneys at government expense. Most inmates on death row are on death row due to being assigned to an overly worked or not too skilled attorney at their first trial. It's only right on the back end, death row inmates are assigned decent attorneys.
