Jones beat Scott in the 1600, just like at conference, state, and NXR last year

Big 9
Mechura 9:05 in the 3200. Wow
Solid 9:32 by Bjorn Anderson from Perham
Perham has a solid sophomore class
Anderson - 10 - 9:32
Guck - 9 - 10:04
Flatau - 10 - 10:07
Mathiason - 9 - 4:52
Swenson - 10 - 4:54
Jorgenson - 9 - 4:54
Evenson - 10 - 5:03
We will see if this team can win AA in 2024.
Next year it will be very hard to beat Mankato East. This team is very deep and returns everybody.
But Marshall has a great sophomore class too
Leibfried - 10 - 10:06
Deutz - 9 - 4:35
Anderson - 10 - 4:40
Holcomb - 10 - 10:31
Marthaler - 10 - 10:36
It was a battle in the Section 6AAA girl’s 3200. Sydney Drevlow from Hopkins won it in 10:44, a PR by several seconds I believe. She closed in 1:23. With a big final surge, Wayzata’s Maddie Gullickson was right behind Drevlow, with a 10:45 (a 25 second PR). She closed in 1:14. In third place was Wayzata’s Grace Mignone in 10:47, an 11 second PR. She dropped a 1:11 final lap, passing two girls. She displayed a kick like I’d never seen from her before.
On the boy’s side in the MN Section 6AAA 3200, Breker ran a 8:54, Jones a 8:59, and Scott a 9:01.
Breker, Jones, Scott all qualified for state in the 3200
4th place just misses state by less than half a second
Wow, bummer. He is a senior too. But 2 years ago he was running in the 5:30s and 11s, so gotta give him props for the progress he made
Mechura’s 3200 seed is 9:00
Look at heat 5 of 800 prelims, 16 second gap between #1 and #2
1:55 as a sophomore is no joke

In 2017, AJ Green split a 1:53 in the 4x800 as a freshman when he ran for Eastview
Cool. That has nothing to do with the compliment to the strong time by a sophomore that is an entirely different person.
I feel bad for Sumner. Too bad he's decided to go to a small school and not prioritize his running. He could have a real future at the longer distances.
