I was right the first time.

also mid 70s temp for tuohy vs high 50s today.
i don't believe super spikes give an advantage on most cross country courses. tough to get that energy return, though maybe you do on a very hard packed course.
171 SR. HUGE!
she is not going to improve in 2023, actually she already ran slower in 23 than 22:
Who the fudge uses Athletic.net for stats.. what are you 50 years old? Milesplit has her full performances and has gotten better every year.
Riggsiculous
Is there anyone on this thread who was actually at the meet?
While yes, that course is normally a hard packed and fast surface, that was most definitely not true on Saturday. Cary had heavy rain Friday morning. Much of the course was soft and there were places where it was seriously muddy. None of it was like that course is when it's dry. Also, the girls championship race was last and parts of the course were somewhat torn up by then. She got none of the usual help from that course, and probably no tangible benefit from the shoes.
Riggs' race was nothing less than astounding.
Here's hoping Irene runs more than 45 miles a week, or the mental gymnastics around here will reach a fever pitch.
not sure about mileage but shes a serious swim aficionado and DOES cross train with a decent amount of swimming. makes sense since her dad is the head swimming coach at WVU, her mom is also a swimming coach and her sister will be swimming for Yale next year. So in a way shes the black sheep of the family athletically. but it seems to be working out...
I watched the race on RunnerSpace. All during the race, where Riggs was awesome, I kept thinking, "Why isn't she running the tangents?" Seriously. There were some muddy places, but often she was running on the outside of a curve. Not that her lead was threatened or anything.
My kid races in a pair of Dragonflys and teammates have all the top shoes on their feet, and no, these shoes do not make a 20 second difference in a 5km cross race.
As for the VaporFly Next% and AlphaFly shoes on the roads, those DO make a massive difference as my old-man results prove. I only have "good days" nowadays when I run in the PBAX & plated super shoes... sucks but true.
Saw her at wv states. She was impressive to say the least.
Yeah, sure, Katelyn just jogged it, wasn't even trying at all. Probably jogged the whole last mile, LOL!
So then, Irene probably let up the last mile and could have run much faster. See what I did there?

Yes it was, but the Touhy Fan Men on this site have to come up with something to justify someone running faster. It's not Katelyn's fault, it's the obsessed Fan Men on this site that have unhealthy obsessions.
So did she run 16:02 or 17:02? The interviewer stated that it was 17:02 and
Riggs didn't offer any corrections.
16:02.
She won by a minute+. Announcer was ginning up the crowd asking if she was going sub 16. All the boys suddenly payed attention.
Tuohy ran a 9:10 3000m in high school. Riggs has already run a 9:11 equivalent (3200m calculator conversion.)

Riggs is committed to Stanford (per at least one online source.)
Smart girl just like Dudek. The girls who can't get into Stanford go to NC State.
