Whenever I come down here to visit my boomer family members it's just suburban wasteland, traffic and oppressive heat/humidity. Plus all the Trumpers down here rolling coal, I regret everytime I have to come down here.

There are a lot of nice parts of Florida. Suburban sprawl is ugly, but most places in the US have that issue now.
Weather is often nice.
Boating on either side of the peninsula.
Tampa and Miami are interesting cities. Jacksonville is not bad.
1) The most beautiful beaches and clearest water in the lower 48
2) Excellent communities to raise athletically-inclined kids. FL consistently produces some of the best athletes in the country, particularly swimmers
3) Excellent water sports of all kinds, from fishing, to surfing, diving, wakeboarding, etc
So……if you’re into beautiful beaches and water, and water-based endeavors, it’s heaven. The gulf side vs Atlantic side each have their own personalities. I have trouble deciding which one I like better.
All that said, I have never understood how ppl can live inland in FL or near the FL/GA line. All that heat and humidity without immediate access to the ocean. Although I hear places like Orlando are nice for pristine golfing opportunities and of course Disney world.

Stay in your Bidenette State, we thank you! Trump obviously owns you.

As I South Floridian, I spend a fair amount of time wondering why I still live here.
Answer: I would take a huge pay cut if I went anywhere else. So, I'll probably live here until retirement and then bail out, like a lot of people I know. South Florida is becoming both a place to retire TO and a place to retire the heck away FROM.

California has better beaches and better weather, and it also has mountains, and less mosquitoes. But it's more expensive.
The water's colder in California. The fishing is better in Florida. Florida is much better for scuba, snorkeling, etc. The beaches in California are not all that they are hyped to be. I'd much rather go to a beach in Florida than California. As far as how the state is governed, I'd go with Florida all the way. California's governance during COVID was more of a disaster than the virus.
