Joan was graduated from Bowdoin, she only spent one year at NC State.
This thread is pure stupidity 😂.
Bowdoin is an excellent school.
It’s always baffling to me…. Does everyone in these boards think the only successful people in the world come from elite academic schools?? You are aware there are thousands and thousands of people every year that graduate from your average or even sub average state school and are able to, surprise, land high paying jobs and become very successful adults.
news flash: state schools are great and 95% of employers could care less where you went to school.
We see what schools you didn't graduate from if they "could care less". I am sure that they could care less about what school you graduated form because most employers care a great deal about it.

its 2022 not 2002
Academically, is NC State equal to Stanford? Nope. But you know what? Katelyn Tuohy chose NC State because it fit all of her needs, not yours. Her goal was to excel in running and considering that she just went pro, I’d say she’s doing pretty well. And if she wants to continue to run pro as a career after college or even just settle in with a solid DI coaching gig, she’s in the right place. Moreover, she’s also excelling academically. If she wants to completely leave the running world, she has free range to do whatever she pleases whether that be work a desk job or go to medical school.
Moral of story is that she knew what would work for her and get her into the best position to succeed.
Unless she plans to go full Nancy Kerrigan on schweizer, monson, cranny etc she’s not making the Olympics
katelyn tuohy doesn't need a name on a degree to go places in life. she will be just fine. people know who she is. people know what she represents. She will have the opportunity to do whatever she wants in life.
- tuohy had academics to go Stanford 'with running'
- didn't want west coast (almost went Michigan) and noticed that every Stanford recruit has either disappeared, regressed, or had serious injury over last 10 years
- at NC state she actually could use her ap credits, rather than just starting in higher level, so...- she will finish with bachelors plus 1-2 masters (she may even finish undergrad spring '23)
- when she's done running, as an academic all-american and NCAA champ, she can get into any top business or law school, if that's what she wants.

No hope? Wow. We knew it wasn't an elite school but assumed it was average and that most students woukd find a job. But if you don't understand that a Stanford degree results in significantly better opportunities, you are rejecting the stats. It is like saying a runner at Rutgers is as likely to become elite as one at NC State. It may happen but it is more unlikely.
Why pick on Rutgers? They will be a force of the future.
Sorry, goofy wifi connection.

Pretty sure none of those runners you mentioned had katelyn's times when they were in her age
