Conner Mantz of Utah broke the course record at the Manchester Road Race Thursday morning, finishing in 21:04. The previous record was held by Edward Cheserek (21:16), set in 2019.
As a DC native and a onetime regular visitor to mocorunning.com, I remember that name from almost 10 years ago. I had thought he’d moved on from racing, but apparently not. What a day for him, mixing it up with the very top tier.
That shot of the sprint finish is amazing, but could be better if the race had big signs at 50-100-150-200-400 meters facing the camera.
Also better without the announcer saying, "Still anybody's race!" in the background as Mantz is well clear and cruising to the finish line. Other than that, perfection.
